Julia Roberts will star in Richard Greenberg’s Three Days of Rain coming to Broadway in Spring 2006. Joe Mantello (Take Me Out,Glengarry Glen Ross and The Odd Couple) is set to direct. Marc Platt and David Stone (Wicked) will produce. The male leads have not been announced.
This is Julia Roberts’ first lead role on the Broadway stage and one of her first acting gigs since delivering twins last year. She is best-known for her Oscar-winning performance in Erin Brockovich, her breakout hit Pretty Woman, and the cult-favourite Steel Magnolias.
Tickets go on sale in November and there will be a limited 12 week engagement in March at an as yet un-named theater.
Three Days of Rain was first done in New York in 1997 at off-Broadway’s Manhattan Theatre Club. A family drama / mystery, the three-character play starred Patricia Clarkson, John Slattery and Bradley Whitford.
