In case you are getting calls from the wonderful people at NCO Financial Systems. You should read some messages people have posted about this company. Apart from having to pay $1.5 million to settle Federal Trade Commission charges that it violated the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), there are also many many claims of state and federal violations of legislation like the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) and the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA).

The company purchases old debt from people like your cellphone provider, hospitals and the government for pennies on the dollar and then tries to collect it. You may have even already paid the bill, like I had, but that is really a minor irrelevant point. The reality is, much if not most of this debt is so old noone has any obligation to repay any of it, least of all not to NCO. Many people have been harassed for debt belonging to neighbors, relatives, old residents of the same address, and co-workers. Don’t pay NCO a penny.

If you receive letters or phone calls from NCO or phone numbers like
800-709-8625 or 888-804-3488 or 877-803-8009 or 800-541-2742 or 888-688-7929 or 800-445-4918 or 866-569-8956 or 800-218-1175 or 800-448-9576 or 800-684-8429 or 866-429-3592 or 800-976-8307 or 877-871-6484 or 800-735-6588 or 800-220-1942 or 877-778-1799 or 800-227-4000 or 800-807-7809 or 866-626-9112 or 866-425-8131 or 800-967-4100 or 877-252-4534 or 877-202-9074 or 888-691-8955 or 888-259-3021 or 800-437-7403 or
800-383-4761 or 866-360-9791 you should read this page about the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. If NCO does anything wrong with you, you could be entitled to $1000 per infraction and they may have to pay your lawyer and possibly even your debt.

To halt their “contact”, send NCO a certified, return-receipt cease and desist letter (they throw away all faxes and non-certified letters). A sample letter might read (though, you must seek real legal advice, which I’m not):

This is to advise you that pursuant to the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (”FDCPA”) 15 USC 1692c(c), you are hereby notified to immediately terminate any contact with me, or any members of my family or household, regarding any matter concerning the collection of a debt you allege is owed to your company or to your principal/customer/client. This notice shall include, but is not limited to written correspondence, as well as telephonic communication. This letter also verifies that I live at the address above, therefore, any further locator attempts would be a violation of the FDCPA.

Is NCO calling you? Do you have a new NCO phone number or information? Please leave a comment and share it with the rest of us. Thanks!

NCO may or may not report your debt dispute with them on your credit report. It is important to make sure that if NCO puts anything on your credit report, all of the information is accurate, such as date of debt, last activity on account and the correct amount. That information is not always placed on all three major reports and your valid creditors usually only check one of these sources, so make sure you check all three (TransUnion, Equifax and Experian) for correct information. You should also check your credit score at these agencies to see the impact of your debt history on your credit-worthiness. Click for a FREE 3-in-1 Credit Report.

If NCO does not leave you alone, Lexington Law is an affordable legal tool to get them to stop calling and writing you.  They are also very effective at deleting the negative information off of your credit reports.

Oh, and Miss Hill, thanks for calling ;)

Important! File a complaint with the Pennsylvania Attorney General - easy online form (NCO is a PA company and PA is investigating NCO)

P.S. The Pennsylvania Attorney General recently finished a big case against them, though the complaints continue.

  1. I sent them a cease and decist letter and the slobs have stopped calling. Amen!

  2. In response to Christine and her situation: 1) you do not have to talk to NCO and I would recommend that you stop answering your phone when they call and DO NOT give them a single penny! If you owe the money, call the company you owe the money to, explain the situation to them, and tell them that you would like to work out a payment plan with them directly. Make sure you tell them that you will not be working with the debt collection agency but, only with them and that any payment you make will be to them (the original creditor) and to no one else. I guarantee you that the original creditor will be MORE THAN willing to work with you and to take any payment play you offer to them. I would call the orginal creditor, say “I can pay you this amount of money every week or month where do you want me to send the money.” Don’t even ask them what they want you to pay, just tell them what you can afford and then follow thru. DO NOT tell them you can afford a certain amount and will be making payments at a certain time of the week or month if you can’t. Only make a commitment to what you can actually afford to do. Even if it’s only $10 a month, that’s better than nothing and they will take it, trust me. Plus, if you end up having to go to court, the judge will see that you have made an effort and, if the creditor didn’t take it, that’s their problem. 2) Now, on to NCO, legally, they are not allowed to threaten to “send the case to the county” or threaten you in any way whatsoever if they don’t intend to follow thru. That means that they can NOT threaten to sue you or to “send your account up” (whatever that means) just to get you to be scared and pay them something. It’s illegal for them to do that. I would send them a cease letter (the wording of it is on this website). If they continue to call you, speak to an attorney and sue them. HEAR THIS: what they are doing to you is illegal (the yelling and threatening), you CAN make them stop and they may end up owing you money, if you follow up and sue them. Good luck and “happy wedding!”

  3. I just spent a hour reading the mort recent posts. NCO has been calling us for weeks, this is the first time I seen an address for them, thanks much. In many states telephone conracts ( payment agreements) are not binding, has any one recived anything in writing from NCO before or after contact?

  4. One more piece of advice….go to the 3 credit reporting agencies & put a BLOCK on your report. No one can see any of your information without YOUR approval or request.

  5. One more thing…this is their # of choice for me: 1-800-273-6816

I can only imagine that now they’ll call from a new #!

  6. In reply to:
    “nco rep wrote:
if you think the debt is not yours ask to verify by social security number. i am a collector for nco and we have your ssn thats why we have your credit report.”

Yeah, right. I know I don’t owe the debt and the original company is sending me a letter stating that there is zero balance! Don’t act like we (all) don’t pay our bills! I read the report from the PA Atty General on your company. You’re the collections equivalent of a heroin addict. You scrape the bottom for anything you can get and you’d sell your mother’s soul for the almighty dollar!

To those being harassed: First, do as many other posts mention. Send the stop letters & such. If you DO owe the debt, contact the original creditor immediately. Swallow your pride & tell them what’s going on. I had to do this myself a few years ago. Called Capital One & First Union. Together I owed them about 4500 bucks. One had a higher interest rate than the other so each month they both got money, although the one with higher int. got more. They were BOTH more than happy to cut out the collector & work directly with me.

What you have to remember is that you are NOT the only person out there that owes money & these banks want to get as much of their money back as they can. Many will even drop any new interest charges & possibly drop some of the old non-payment fees & such. Ask them! All they can say is no, but they know that “something” from a thousand-plus people every month beats “nothing” at all!

Call them asap…they will work with you!

DO NOT give these garden slugs ONE PENNY!!! You legally don’t have to if you pay the original creditor!

Good luck & watch your credit reports! That is HUGE in knowing what these people are up to!

    :-)

  7. @Help 101

There is a lot that you can do to fight NCO. If you need legal help, I recommend Lexington Law to stop the phone calls, letters and remove NCO from your credit reports. You can also check to see if NCO is posting negative credit report info on you.

If you need more help, post a comment and include your email address (not published) for me to contact you.

  8. I just recieved 3 bills from NCO. I felt something was wrong the minute I opened these bills and after finding this site I can concluded that me feeling were right. Can anyone suggest how to dispute this legally. Where should I turn for legal advice?

  9. I have been getting calls from the following numbers: 866-576-1447 & 223-051-6400

  10. More number updates. They use:

    513-201-6303
    416-932-4500 (as Eixk Management)
    408-538-5102
    612-256-9958

They have between 14-16 times a day using one or more of these numbers.

  11. They kept on calling me several times an hour every hour a couple of months back, from different numbers. They never leave messages and when they do, it’s some automated message telling me to call them back with a reference number or some such rot. I’m on the Do Not Call list and have no debts, so I don’t understand why they harass me so. After a couple of weeks of quiet, they’ve started calling me again, this time from this number: 866-576-1447. I’m sick of it!

  12. NCO is calling every day. Some recorded message. As a debt free person they need to knock it off!

  13. I got a phone call today 1.800.786.9330. =D F***** U*** NCO. Get lost!!!

  14. Any advice you could give me would be great.
I got a call at 8:10AM this Saturday that woke me from a dead sound sleep.
It was NCO - They hung up when I answered.
They called me back at 10:26AM telling me that my JPMorgan Chase acct. was in danger of being sent to “the next stage” and if I didnt show a committment to pay, the acct was going to be “sent on” to my county on Monday. (I’m assuming means courthouse) - HELP!
The amount is up to $3800.00 now - $1800 of which is late and interest fees that I did not spend.

I told them that I didnt live in that county anymore. The girl I spoke to was very nice and I told her that yes, I hadn’t paid on this acct in about a year due to needing major surgery and being out of work, and a very bad financial year last year. She asked me what I made now and where I worked and what I did - and how much I paid for rent and for my car. (those were the only questions she asked).
She sympathized with my situation and offered me a settlement agreement of $2122.00 - which I dont have. She then offered me a three month payment of 836.00 for three months to pay it off ($2507.00) - which is almost half my monthly paycheck or a 12 mo. payment of 321.51.
She said the first payment must be paid in April - and it is now April 26th!
I explained to her that my wedding is in two weeks and that I could not make a first payment until May 15th (I didnt think this was unreasonable - is it?) They were trying to “do me the favor” of it going to the county.

Then a man gets on the phone telling me because it is so urgent on a time constraint, we need your immediate committment. I asked him why they were calling me on April 26th to ask me for a payment by the end of April - (Just a few more days) and that was unrealistic, and had they called me sooner, I may have had a chance to do more about it by the end of April. He then started YELLING at me - saying that he had been calling me since April 2nd!
I told him that I had never received any messages from him prior and he said that is because my machine would not let him leave a message and that I was a grown woman, and should have known I was in trouble for this debt.
I said back to him that there was no reason to yell, and that my home machine took messages just fine and that I was sorry if he had a machine doing the calling, but I would not have had any idea who they were just by seeing an 877 number on my caller ID - and that I would have hoped that someone would have just spoken and waited for the beep for me to call them (No-one ever has).
He continued YELLING at me saying I was twisting the situation and then I said that he needed to calm down. He then started demanding my new address and I said I would not give it to him unless he calmed down and I asked to speak back to the girl I had been dealing with that was a lot calmer.
He said NO, I dont intend on being nice and I am hanging up in 5 seconds and telling them to send it on if you dont cooperate - and then I hung up on him.
I was not going to be abused like that !!

I am scared though because Capital One got a judgement on me and then threatened to garnish my wages if I didnt pay it. So I had to take care of it at that point. The courthouse was not even in my state so I couldnt even show!
Can they do that? Garnish wages?

Any advice on what to do? - is appreciated.

  15. In Response to “Jen” 9 April 08…Why would you work for an employer like this? Do you think one good employee is going to make a difference? You seem genuine enough and caring. You can find a better employer. Good Luck! NCO seems to prefer to pay fines when caught, rather than really change their practices. Paying fines for harassing people is just a cost of doing thier business and keeping thier execs and stockholders in profits and dividends.

  16. 877-621-2171 might be NCO also

  17. Oh my lord people. Don’t pay these people any money!!
First, if you pay them even one penny it restarts the clock on the statute of limitations. There are other things that can restart the clock too so check with a lawyer or research it to make sure you don’t accidentally do something that would restart it. Once the statute of limitations has run out (like four years or something) then they can’t sue you.

Second, paying them anything just opens the door for them trying to get more. It’s like those scams that take advantage of the elderly. Once you have paid once then you will be hounded even harder across the board.

Calling these people scum is insulting to scum.

They will lie, cheat, intimidate and harrass. They will call your neighbors, the neighbors of your family in other states. They will call at work and leave messages with your co-workers.

Ignore them. Then ignore them some more. Eventually after a period of time with absolutely no success they will just sell your debt to some other scum for one cent on the dollar.

Don’t for a second think that if you try to be nice and talk to them they will stop being scum. If you talk to them they will just get more information out of you and then use that information against you. For example suppose you say “gee i can’t make a payment now because my father is dying of cancer and i’m spending my days at his bedside” they might sympathetically say “oh, i’m so sorry, where is he hospitalized”. If you tell them then don’t be surprised when the nurse tells your father that a collection company is looking for you about “a case”.

You think i’m joking??? I have a video of them harrassing me at my father’s funeral (CBS wan’t to do a show?).

The only saving grace here is that they are so nasty and so unreasonable that they have invariably harrassed the wrong person. In all of the calls they’ve made i’m sure they have probably gone a little too far with someone ‘connected’ and if they haven’t yet they probably will someday.

We can at least smile knowing that they probably have to check under their beds before they go to sleep at night.

  18. If they are calling your cell phone, it’s pretty simple - you add them to your phone book and select “SILENT” for their ringer! Of course they will call with another number so you’ll have to add as may numbers as it takes to maintain your sanity.

Not sure if you all have ever heard of Dave Ramsey? You can listen to his shows online… http://www.daveramsey.com He handles a lot of callers on his show that are being harassed.

As for the NCO collector thats posting on here… Do you think that calling people over and over is going to make them suddenly be able to pull money out of their ass to give to you? Get a real job!

  19. Received two suspicious messages from NCO Financial Systems on my answering machine and immediately searched the web for more information about NCO and found your posts. I had just called them back and was placed on hold for 10 minutes at which point I hung up, and won’t be calling them back. I will persue your recommendations. Comment: is this type of operation a symptom of an economic system on the verge of collapse? A system where no one produces anything that anyone else wants to buy and therefore we become parasites feeding on those few who do? Where is the government to protect us from the piece of desease that runs this type of operation? What about a person who is not firm of mind who receives such a call from these preditors and inocently sends them money? Also is there not a possiblity that the credit reporting agency are profiting from peoples fears? Another way to make money by setting up computers and sitting back as the money rolls in. Thank you for your website and keep up the good work.

  20. They also use the name Risk Management and it has an area code of 416.

  21. I got the first call from them this morning with no specifics or even that they knew my name or anything. Left a callback# of 877-477-1827. Will not ever be calling them.

  22. To Babe 4/15/2008, i am really sorry they are doing this to you, and i understand the frustration, and you know something, since i have worked there and am now giving up my position there because what is happening to everyone here is totally wrong, the problem is with the dialer system that they use, i have seen myself that the number is not removed totally even after a request was put through for a removal 30 mins before i got the the call, so i understand totally! But anyways hang in there, i am sure they will stop in due time!

  23. The best bet is to play by the rules and then when they call after you’re contested the debt keep track of it. Record all conversations (ideally electronically) and the forward them to the attorney general and 60 minutes etc on cd. And when they continue to attempt contact after being told that the debt is contested or a with a cease and desist notice just keep track of this and sue them (either with an attorney or just follow up in small claims court in your homw state where the fee is low and just hope for a judgment if they don’t respond). Remember that the people who own this company have mansions, boats, planes and laugh at all the suckers they collect on for pennies on the dollar. Yet they likely have criminal connections themselves and have been cited for multiple violations by the US government … which is ironic when you look at some of the soapbox rantings posted here by some of their supposed current and past employees. It’s really just a game to make more money and remember that the top brass of these collection agencies are living the lifestyle that most of us only dream of.

  24. I just moved into a new house in a different state less than a year. Started receiving calls last month (messages) to call NCO @ 866-849-6441 regarding a debt collection. This message
was left by a Ms Nelly (really hard to hear). I am absolutely sure I have no debt as I pay off all my bills. Since the message didn’t include a recipient’s name, I kinda guest it’s a scam. First thing I am going to do is obtain my credit report (from all 3 credit bureaus-they are required to give you a free copy once every year). Then I am going to call these bastards and give them hell. FYI, I believe they’ve just lost a case against them brought by PA. If you want to file a complaint, DA website from PA would be a good start. You can even do it online.

  25. We have been getting messages from NCO for about a week. We were out of town so there were about 6 of them on our answering machine. They advised they were collecting a debt and asked us to call 866.376.1967. We have no unpaid debts so this was a surprise. Assuming they had the wrong number, we have called them 5x and all their phone does is ring. No one has ever answered. We have received nothing in the mail.

  26. These people are thugs, they pursue people on the economic edge so effectively steal food from the mouths of their children. After the usury of American credit card companies and the lack of medical care for many those nco collectors are only adding to the misery. It’s a good job for those who want to be empowered to cause pain…

  27. Could they be pursued with violations of the do not call list??

  28. 800 219 6304 These people are the bottom of the bottom when it comes to buying “unsettled” debt…losers…

  29. I have been harrassed by NCO for months now. They call sometimes 7 times a day! I have told them repeatedly that the account is with a debt consolidation agency, and they STILL CALL. I sent them a fax, and since I see about the certified letter, will do that now. The number I have is 248-220-8704. To the employee’s comment you people do harass
    us!

  30. NCO leaving automated message to call 1-877-253-5909 & a live person leaving messages to call 1-877-806-0025

  31. To Jen on 4/8…we have told them for the last 2 months to take our number OFF and to not call. They are rude, hang up on us and keep calling. Even when we speak to the “supervisor”…they say it will be taken care of…then they call back again later and 3 times (at least) every day.

  32. My husband started recieving calls on his cell a few months ago for someone else. He has called 3 times politely asking to get removed. Also the automated calls give you the option of pressing a number if it is the wrong person ( done that at least 3 times). Finally I call and want specific names to document who I talk to, they wont. I asked for a supervisor and get Angela Butler’s voice mail. He is still getting calls. 800-597-4549.

  33. new # for NCO 800-877-4127

  34. 1-866-367-1967
an automated message was left that NCO is a debt collection agency, than any information given will be used to collect debt and call back today. I called back, but there was no answer.

  35. Had a voice mail message from NCO to call them at 1-866-447-4098 and they gave me a refernce #. I owe nothing and the last check of my credit rating was 950.
    Sounds like an extortionist organization

  36. new number 704 523 8444

  37. Be aware if you send them payments western union. They do not call western union to collect on your payment! We sent two different payments and the one they said check was bounced-nco. we dont have checking acc. was sent western union and number was called in. Western Union rep said it was unaccepted and is currently under investigation with w.u
the second they didnt call w.u. for the nine digit number i called them but as western union told me, they also have to call in to accept or refuse payment. call the 800 # on the back of your paperwork from western union and check on it. they say if we dont have balance in full they will summon s us. Im gathering papers for cease and desist and validation and sending them copies of our payments to them certified mail.
PLEASE BE CAREFUL WITH NCO check on your payments to see if they have collected them. otherwise they will tell u your payment is in default and they will want the balance. nco also said western union is the only way they will accept payment
they did ask for our checking acct number
dont give it to them. watch your steps carefully in dealing with this company.
ive reported them to the ftc, state attorney general in pa. they harasse you and harass you until u send payment and then they dont collect it thru western union. they need to be shut down!

  38. # 918-280-0811

  39. NCO Canada number 866-249-1722
I live in Canada and just phone to talk to my mother-in-law. She does not live here but they wanted her phone number. For some reason I knew something was not right. So she hung up

  40. They have been calling me on my cellphone from a Private number. Since I do not answer private numbers, all I have recieved is a message telling me to call back 1-800-477-1827. now, I have not had a credit card or any other way to have debt and I figured if it was something I actually owed, they would atleast have my name and would not call from a blocked number. I looked up the company and number just to see if it was something I needed to worry about and this site is what my search came up with. I believe they have the name of who ever had this cell phone number before me, and it is most definately fraud.

  41. Hi my name is Jen, Don’t get mad everyone, but i work for this company that you are speaking of, and yes i know how frustrating it is to get calls from them, all you have to do if you are not the debter in question is to tell them to remove the number, and i must advice you now that it will take anywhere between 24-48 hrs to remove the number completly from the file, has easy has that. In my expierience there i have had alot of rude comments and among other things thrown at myself and all i am doing is trying to do my job, you just have to remember that the people that are calling you from this company are doing is getting down to the solution on behalf of the company that hired them and its not the persons fault that called you, i just thought that i better add something to your little discusion about this. I don’t know if anyone here has ever spoken with me, but i am not a rude person, i am usually cheery, bubbly, i have been told that i am being way to nice for the kind of work that we are doing, well i don’t beleave that you are going to get anywhere being a total jerk with someone of the phone, and i don’t blame anyone here about what they are saying, because i have heard first hand from recordings of how rude some of the agents can be, and the recordings that i have heard those people have been let go from the company because it isn’t tollerated by not only state law but also the fdcpa. I hope that everyone will take the tip on telling them to just remove the number but also remember to give them the time to get out that the call is recorded for quality and so on, its required to be said, Thanks for your time everyone!

  42. A MI ME HA LLEGADO UNA CARTA Y YO NO DEBO NADA Y MENOS AEEUU SI SOY DE ESPAÑA

  43. NCO contact info as of 4/7/2008:
    1-800-707-2637, NCO Financial, P.O. Box 15746 Willminton, DE 19850

  44. I’ve been harassed the passed few weeks from this company. The caller ID has 215-442-8300 and 215-675-1573, but they ask to call back on lines 877-569-2768 and 866-666-8018. I have also had a numerous amount of other 888, 866, and miscellaneous numbers calling me the past few weeks and not leave messages. I finally was home when one of these people, Matthew Watts, called and he was very rude. Neither my wife, nor I have any debt as I just pulled our credit reports to verify. The guy was a jerk on the phone and said he would keep calling as it was “his right”.

  45. Called my home phone from 410-986-0085. Just “Googled” the number to see who it was and found this website.

  46. I have been receiving calls from NCO for about 2 weeks now. I have ignored the calls until recently. After answering the call I found out they were looking for a family member of mine that does not live with me. Also I want to know how they got my number because not even my family has it.
here is the number that the call is coming from:
    866-249-3823

  47. NCO has been calling the past 3 days under different numbers:

    866-576-8284
    866-816-1066
    866-278-1213

    I just ignore these calls.

  48. They called me from (800) 597-4549… but they called me on my fax line… through an online service!

About a year and a half ago I opened a free fax number account through jconnect.com, and then last week and this week I got VOICEMAILS on that number with instructions to call NCO with a reference ID. I have no outstanding debt anywhere of any kind and I’d never heard of them so I called the number.

They didn’t even have a record of my fax number on file! The ref id was actually attached to an entirely different phone number.

  49. I continue to receive calls from them and I don’t have any debt, nor have I ever had any debt!! How do I get rid of them?

  50. New NCO #’s:

  51. They’ve been harrassing me for months now. Multiple calls…sometimes right in a row. I can never get a live person…it’s always just a recording telling me to call them back and giving me a reference number. There’s no name as to whose debt this is, and when I called them back it’s just an answering machine wanting my name and number…which is full and can no longer receive messages, so there’s nothing I can do but keep getting calls. I going insane here…and I don’t even have any outstanding debt…so who knows what there calling about, but they just won’t stop!!! HELP!!!

  52. I have no debt or bad debt of any kind and they constatly call me.

    1-888-899-5861

  53. 1 800 520 3595 is the number they started calling me from and they call 4-6 times a day!

  54. These vultures got their beaks into some student loans of mine, and while it’s still early in the game, I wanted to share their antics so far:

    1) They called the corporate office of the company I work for and got the number for the location at which I work. They called, looking for me, while I wasn’t working and misrepresented themselves to the girl currently working by saying there was a “problem with my payroll.”

    2) As a result, I unthinkingly called them back and ended up talking to the woman who originally called. She wasn’t nasty but mentioned wage garnishment, something, going by the following guidelines, they cannot do:

    http://www.dol.gov/esa/regs/compliance/whd/whdfs30.pdf

    3) She passed me onto some joker who played the whole sleazy, buddy-buddy used-car-salesman bit until I told him that I couldn’t consent to a payment over the phone (especially not one that was three times what they’d get if they could even legally garnish my wages), and he rattled on about how he wasn’t “playing games” and that’s the absolute lowest and that they could garnish my wages and steal my tax return and if I paid it for so long it’d be taken off my credit report (yeah, need that in writing, bud). I finally hung up on him, called the original woman back and told her they were not to call my workplace anymore (I had too higher members of management there as witnesses).

I was put in touch with a consolidation company by a lady at the college I attended, so I’ll be working to try to get everything shifted into the other company’s hands. Meanwhile, I’ll be sending a cease and desist order to NCO, after contacting the attorney general.

  55. They call usually 2x a day every day, even on weekends. They call for a person who does not live here, but must have had our phone number previous to the last 3 yrs we’ve had it. When I have talked to them I say she does not live here, we do not know her and then they accuse me of being her and lying.I have told them to call verizon and verify that our names are billed to that phone number now but they just keep calling us. Their calls have disturbed us all day, wake our children from their naps, caused us to become ’screeners’ and listen to the message before we pick up the phone. The latest number they have called with is 1-877-373-5807.

  56. 215 675 1573

They have the wrong number yet they calling talked to Dina she claims she is clueless but I have contacted the Horsham police dept and will let them deal with them. Then if they continue afterthat, I will have John schwab arrested. this is a criminal offense

  57. I’m just putting this up so other people can see how NCO works. My Sirius subscription expired in January, the service terminated, but a few days ago I get a collection notice from NCO on behalf of Sirius for $32.83. I’ve learned from the past just to ignore these people, but they continue to call every day. They will not take you to court; they rely on intimidation tactics to get suckers to pay them. Simply ignore NCO.

  58. I paid off these people back on 2/29/08. I understand it may take a month of so for this account to show as paid on my credit report. I pulled my report tonight and sure as shit, there was NCO. I paid those people $188 to settle my two accounts. I got a confirmation number and asked for something in the mail to state it was taken care of. I spoke to some rude and nasty women at the Horsham office(which is about 20 minutes from me) I finally spoke to someone at the Phoenix office, her name is Cecilia. She gave me the number for the Corporate office. I will call them tomorrow. I have my bank statement to show this was paid. Just an fyi… those broads that work there told me to “come on down here and see me” in regards to my account.

  59. I was just threatened by a man who called me names (loser) and said he was going to sue me for 500.00. When I asked about the information, he told me I had no rights and hung up on me. Scary. I have never been bullied in such a manner.

  60. Just got a call from NCO financial systems incorporated. 866-889-6745. Called back to see what this debt was and they just wanted to know who I was. I asked who the debt was from and they hung up on me.

  61. I meant on that letter, for formatting. Obviously I can read and use language properly.

  62. Well, the story is like everyone else’s: 2 calls per day on average. When I called back, the people were absolutely rude and disgusting individuals. The lady did not speak English very well…I would have rather had an intelligible machine. Does anybody have a sample “cease and desist” letter? If so, that would be amazing. I’m going to try to get them anyway I can-trust me, because once I get into them, I won’t stop. Reading all of these horror stories has lit a fire. This company should be ashamed of themselves. At least if you’re going to try to rip off someone, make sure the employees can read the scripts you hand them in the harrassed person’s own tongue… Good Luck everyone.

  63. Their accents are horrible. They clearly outsourced to india. The lady i got a call from didn’t know how to pronounce my state and didn’t know if i was in the same timezone as PA. I got someone with an exceptionally bad accent and told them they had better not call me from india. Next day i got someone whos name might as well be John Q America. That will get rid of the accent problems.

  64. Received a call this morning from 800-295-6724, and the voice message did not identify the caller but asked for a call back. I called the number, and she said “thank you for calling NCO this call may be recorded or monitored”. After telling her I don’t allow my calls to be recorded, I gave her my phone number (where they had left the message) and asked who they were calling for. When I said there was no one at this number by that name, she simply hung-up on me.

  65. I just received a mailing from NCO date March 12,2008. The Number it says to call is 443-263-3019. The annoying thing is before I got home to get the mail I had received a call from Encore Receivable management about the exact same debt… now I am confused… are they the same company just using 2 different names or do I have a major problem here? I have read some very disturbing things about Enoore and now after reading what has been posted here about NCO I am wondering if they are the same. Anyone know?

  66. nco called 5th time today they have the wrong person i have this phone # for over 6 years and tryed talking to them but there brainless. thanks for address it is not the one they gave me.new phone
    #215/442/8316

  67. 888-899-5883

The man’s name is John Pike. I paid off this account over a year ago. He now wants me to proove I paid it off. It has been over a year, the proof I have is that there is no bill. He states I owe over 30K according to his company. Take me to court I guess.

  68. I just started receiving calls from these bastards and now that I have their address I am going to the place and beat the the fucking snot out of as many of them as I can. Screw trying to pursue a legal remedy, there isn’t one.

  69. NCO also
    602-263-1141
    and
    800-933-6736

  70. I was getting calls for a spanish girl on my cell phone. I asked the lady ‘do I sound spanish? I don’t know her, and she no longer has this number. after they called for 2 weeks straight, I cursed them out, and they promised again to remove the number. they called again and I threatened to sue the collector, his supervisor, and the owner.
I then added them to my address book in the phone as ‘NCO assholes’ and changed the voicemail greeting to ‘ hi this is tom, crystal no longer has this phone, if you are the braindead idiots from nco financial go bother someone else’
they finally quit calling after 10 days

  71. P.S. This is an old debt that was supposed to be settled anyway through some other company that evidently did not get settled. It was btwn him and his ex. The point I guess is he is harrassing me! I am sick of it. My bf has told them over and over he pd it or whatever, it doesn’t matter what the heck is going on there with his bill, I don’t care either, I just want that guy,Keith, to not harrass me.

  72. I live with my boyfriend and this creditor keeps calling. I have told him I am not his wife. He doesn’t care. He yells and screams at me and harrasses me to no end. He asks me where he is (I don’t know all the time), what time he left, when he’ll be home, what number is he at, what is his cell # (I tell him he doesn’ have one - he doesn’t), and more…He tells me (he left a # a long time ago, very long ago) that he left the number & he never called back. I tell him it is between him & bf. I only write the message. He tells me that again, then yells at me and says in a stern yelling tone, “Well I told YOU!” It has been 1 thing after another! The other night he called at 2 minutes before 9. My bf was at a mtg for something. What shoud I do? Is there anything I can do? The guy says it is my responsibility, etc… I’ve been hanging up on him. He has even yelled at my child is almost 9 yrs. It is the same guy over and over again! We don’t have caller i.d. I know a lot probably do dread calling, but he seems to enjoy harrassing me and threatning me! I am like that other lady ready to have a nervous breakdown. I have to answer incase the school calls or something. It horrible!

  73. NCO Financial keeps taking money form my bank account I have absolutely no idea who these people are and why they are taking money from me, can someone please explain why they are doing this

  74. i send $ 37.00 dollars and i didn’t resived enything so don;t send enythid to thos fukers

  76. Great post!

I got a call from them from:
    215-441-3000

I couldn’t understand the caller - strong accent.

  77. AT&T used them to collect debt for which I had no idea existed. This happened around the AT&T-BellSouth merger. AT&T’s billing was atrocious, and they blamed their customers for their faults. I am more angry with AT&T than I am with NCO.

  78. Hi,
I started receiving calls from them since early March. The number is 866-376-1967.
    John

  79. got a call from 800-445-4918 today asking for my ex-daughter in law. She has not been in this family for 7 years, don’t know how they got my number since she lives 18 hrs from me, never lived with me. Don’t know where she is, don’t want to know.

  80. I keep getting calls on my paid cell phone that was brought and paid for 6 months ago.Every time they call they use my minutes up.I am disable and live a lone and would like them to stop harrasing me now.

  81. I have not posted a comment before. NCO IS CALLING ME also .The number they called from is 1-877-803-8009

  82. NCO just called here and ask for another person but I have recieved many calls from them at this same number.even ask if this
was a good number to reach the person they had ask for.Iam sure he doesn’t owe money to anyone.tHE NUMBER WAS 1-877-803-8009

  83. I started getting calls from this number.

    800-8100-590

  84. These calls and Voice Mails to my new Cell Phone are costing me my minutes and money since this is using my Cell Phone Minutes. I just got this new Cell Phone Number from T-Mobile and don’t owe any money to anyone specially NCO.

  85. We all know, as a whole we have little use or concern for a bill collector. Particularly if they’re trying to collect on a debt you paid off last year.
Truth is, they’re probably making the calls, hating every one of them, when they get called a name and compared to the sloppy, warm cow dung in the field, etc. Hell of it is they have to make a living the same as we do and believe me, if I had to settle for a collections job, I’d be buried under hard times. There would not be one other job available, even that of a street sweeper.

NCO must have moved out of town in the middle of the night because the return address on my “we’re going to shot your dog, run over your cat and throw your wife over a cliff into the sea to be fed upon by sharks” on my notice is:
    NCO Financial Systems
    5100 Peachtree Industrial Blvd
    Suite L
    Norcross, GA 30071
What worked for me was just telling them, “let’s go to Court a-hole. Until then don’t bother me.”
I typically mark their notice as “not living at this address” or “Deceased” and drop in a mail box outside my zip code area. This typically screws them for two or three months at a time, time after time.

  86. 800-477-1827 there are just way too many numbers they have been using and anonymous call too.

  87. i just moved here a few months ago, i DEFINITELY do not have any debts. How the hell did they get my number and how can we put a STOP to this. The calls are IRRITATING!!!!!! HELP!!!!

  88. re: payyourbills

A “payment of intent” reaffirms the debt and restarts the statute of limitations in every state I know of. This is a trick, you send them even a dollar on a $5000 debt and the statute of limitations is reset and they can take you to court for the full amount.

  89. Understand that NCO has purchased these debts, they are +not+ calling on behalf of anyone but themselves. If the debt is beyond the statute of limitations they have paid maybe 1 or 2 cents on the dollar, maybe less. The original lender is out of the picture, AMEX (or who ever) will not get 1 dime of what you pay. The money goes to NCO.

They usually do not have the paperwork on the debt, only the amount and last payment date. They cannot produce legal proof that the debt is real. It’s a bluff, these people could make a fortune at poker.

Paying them can actually hurt your credit. After 7.5 years an unpaid debt disappears from your credit report. If you pay them a reduced amount this is a new entry on your credit report and will remain there for another 7.5 years. It will hurt when you try to get a mortgage or other credit.

DO NOT TALK TO THEM OVER THE PHONE. THEY WANT TO TRICK YOU INTO REAFFIRMING THE DEBT AND RESETTING THE STATUTE OF LIMITATIONS. IT’S A TRAP. That’s why they try to avoid paper. Don’t fall for it. All correspondence should be done in writing. Do not provide personal information to them over the phone, wait for the letter and don’t add to what they already have.

  90. Can NCO be sued for giving someone a nervous breakdown? And I mean that with 100% seriousness.

They have my cellular phone number and sometimes their auto-dialer calls me 2-3 AN HOUR, and up to 15-20 times a day from various numbers. It starts right on 8:00 pacific time, and lasts into the evening up until 9:00 pacific time.

The constant and relentless calls are nerve racking. I’m already being treated for a nervous condition and the repeated and nonstop hammering from them is seriously exasperating my condition.

My cell phone was meant for emergencies only as well, and to have it firing off every 15-30 minutes from NCO makes me furious.

  91. another new NCO number

    1-866-623-3584

  92. NCO called me from 215-675-1573 and they asked me if my last four social security numbers were * * * * and I said no. Then the guy apologized for having the wrong person. Who the heck are these people?

  93. I started receiving calls from 1-800-273-6816 in early Feb 08. I thought they were telemarketers until one day I answered and it was a recorded message. I called the number back with my “reference number”, and come to find out I had a “debt” from a credit card company. The unfortunate thing is that I never even knew that I had this debt. I paid that CC company almost $8K to pay off the balance last June. Unfortunately, that was not the whole amount - i was about $90 short. I NEVER received another bill, and six months later, that $90 became about $350 and the bank charged it off at the end of the year - hence the collection agency. I’m not a person with a history of not paying bills. Nonetheless, the guy was very rude to me and I didn’t appreciate that at all. A loan officer told me once that it is worse for your credit to pay off a collection agency that it is to have a charge off. I don’t know if that is true or not.

  94. Hey, wdg1021 why don’t you just answer the phone and make arrangemts to pay your bill? Do people know that you don’t have to pay balance in full today that you can make arrangements to settle the debt over a 1-6 months? let them transfer you to other people it’s called getting a talk off. negotiate the amount and term MAKE OFFERS be ready to settle for between 45-85% of the balance. the older the bill the bigger discount on the settlement. my suggestion when calling is to get a prepaid phone with voice mail on it and give that number to the collector. never turn it on. just let them call it and leave a message. other wise call from work or a payphone since it is a toll free number. keep negotiating over time don’t get fooled by whats called urgency. collectors want to collect your bill this month. you have to realize that you do need to make some kind of payment this month make a payment of intent if you cant pay the first part of the settlement say you are going to settle for $500 every month for 3 months, but you make this arrangment too late in the month. offer to make a payment of intent or a payment to show good faith offer $100. try to send the good faith payment western union quick collect or money gram. the collector will try to get you to put a check on file tell the collector you need to see your arrangment in writing and have it faxed to you. also when you are done paying it off have a paid in full or settled in full letter faxed and sent to you. get everything in writing. follow my advice and you’ll save money and not have a bad experience with the collector. be polite on the phone they are just trying to antagonize you in to just giving up and paying thinking their is no other way out. don’t induldge it if they are really rude hang up call back untill you get a different collector or ask for a manager. keeping talking to different people till you get what you want. don’t be affraid to hang up and call back. keep working at it. they will eventually meet your number.

  95. if the statute of limitations has run out on the debt a debt collection agency can still try to collect it, they just cant sue you for it anymore in civil court. you always have the MORAL obligation to pay a debt, just not always a legal one. YOU SHOULD PAY YOUR BILLS!!!!

  96. if you think the debt is not yours ask to verify by social security number. i am a collector for nco and we have your ssn thats why we have your credit report. if the debt is not yours don’t worry about it tell them you have the wrong number and to stop calling also send a cease and desist letter certified mail. i am sorry to all the wrong numbers that get called i don’t want to be calling a wrong number but poeple change their number fast and directories move slower. it is the debtor’s responsibility to keep their creditor updated with phone number and address changes but they don’t so blame them. if we had the right numbers to call wrong numbers wouldn’t happen. The fact of the matter is that most debtors don’t want to be found. they don’t want to pay their bill or they would call us. there are MILLIONS and MILLIONS of these bad debts. why don’t they get paid? if they were owed to you personally would you want them to be paid?

  98. Information for all your readers….I have been investigating this company (NCO)along with several others, including Asset Acceptance for a family member of mine that is getting harrassed constantly by phone calls. This is the information that I have found:

The statute requires that the debt collector obtain verification of the debt and mail it to the consumer. Because one of the principal purposes of this is to help consumers who have been misidentified by the debt collector or who dispute the amount of the debt, it is important that the verification of the identity of the consumer and the amount of the debt be obtained directly from the creditor. Mere itemization of what the debt collector already has does not accomplish this purpose. As stated above, the statute requires the debt collector, not the creditor, to mail the verification to the consumer.
Under the FDCPA, you are allowed to validate this debt, and the creditor (in this case, the collection agency) must show you proof that you owe the debt to the collection agency (not to the original creditor.) Plus, they must show proof positive that you owe them this debt. It’s not enough to send you a computer-generated printout of the debt. Nor can they ask you to pay for digging up records of your debt:
o Proof that the collection company owns the debt/or has been assigned the debt,
o Complete payment history, starting with the original creditor, and
o Copy of the original signed loan agreement or credit card application
So, if a creditor can’t verify a debt:
    • They are not allowed to collect the debt,
    • They are not allowed to contact you about the debt, and
    • They are also not allowed to report it under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). Doing so is a violation of the FCRA, and the FCRA states that you can sue for $1,000 in damages for any violation of the Act.
    The Debt Validation Strategy
It might be helpful to look at our illustration of the process before you get started. You might also want to read this, sort of our own “validation” of the process given here.
1 Send a letter requesting validation to the collection agency.
    2. If you don’t know the address of the collection agency, it is easy to look up on the internet.
    3. Dispute the collection with the credit bureaus.
    4. Wait 30 days to hear back from the collection agency. Most likely they will not respond or they will respond saying that they received your letter. Only a letter which includes:
o Proof that the collection company owns the debt/or has been assigned the debt,
o Complete payment history, starting with the original creditor, and
o Copy of the original signed loan agreement or credit card application
    is satisfactory.
    5. If they haven’t sent you satisfactory proof, send a copy of your receipt for your registered mail, a copy of the first letter you sent and a statement that they have not complied with the FDCPA and are now in violation of the Act. Tell them they need to immediately remove the collection listing from your credit report or you are going to file a lawsuit because they are in violation of the FDCPA, section 809 (b).
    6. Wait 15-20 days to hear back after this second letter to the collection agency. They will either remove it or not respond.
    7. If they do provide a contract with a signature from the original creditor showing that you owe the debt, there is one more thing you can try: see if they are legally licensed to collect the debt in your state.
If you believe that they are not licensed, and licensing is required in your state, write them another letter and tell them they are in violation of your state’s collection laws and are subject to prosecution and fines. Cite your state’s fines and procedures in the letter. This is a last ditch effort, but has worked in some cases.
    8. Typically, your work will stop here, as most legitimately legal collection agencies will bow down to your demands and send you a letter agreeing to remove the listing. Now all you have to do is send a copy of the letter to the CRAs.

If the collection agency did not agree to remove the listing, then you need to continue to the next steps.
    9. File a lawsuit in small claims court against the collection agency on the basis of violating the FDCPA.
    10. Have the papers served to the collection agency. (You can find a paper server on the internet for about $25). Here is a good link. And here is another: http://www.1-800-serve-em.com/servicemap.html
    11. In the meantime, in a parallel effort with your lawsuit against the collection agency:
    12. If the collection comes back as “verified” from the credit bureaus, you now have proof of further collection activity from the collection agency. (The assumption is that the credit bureau contacted the collection agency to verify the debt.) Since the collection agency did not validate the debt, further collection activity is a violation of the FDCPA.
    13. Contact the credit bureaus, and tell them that the creditors did not verify the debts under the FDCPA, and send copies of your proof. Request the method of verification, which is your right under the FCRA. It is crucial to contact the credit bureaus before filing a lawsuit. Make sure you state that the collection agency did not respond to your request for debt validation.
    14. You can try sending them a letter to see if they will budge. They may tell you that the request needs to come from the creditor. This is baloney. If they can’t give you reasonable information on how they verified the information and the collection agency has provided you none, you can conclude there was no reasonable investigation performed. They are teetering on the edge of “willful non-compliance” under the FCRA. Tell them so.
    15. File a suit in small claims, state or federal court. The basis of the lawsuit should be that the credit bureaus could not provide a satisfactory method of verification, or did not conduct a reasonable investigation.
    16. Have the papers served. (You can find a paper server on the internet for about $25). Here is a great link where you can search for the local office of the credit bureau near you. http://www.llrx.com/columns/roundup14.htm
Notify the bureaus that you are suing them. The credit bureaus will call the creditors and find out that there is a question about whether the debt is legitimate. They should delete it immediately.

  99. additional numbers used by NCO
    253-245-6406, 248-220-8704, 215-441-3000, 408-538-5102, 513-201-6303, 704-209-6611, 773-668-1622, 909-202-8200, 704-817-0540

  100. I work for NCO and its an awesome job. I enjoy a high level of income and have good job security. Integrity and respect are two values extremly important to me. I believe i am a pleasure to deal with on the phone and I will bend over backwards to help borrowers that want to reach a compromise.

I realize wrong numbers get called it happened to me i have a very common name and a collection agency kept calling me. I contacted them and it didn’t stopped. I just called my cell phone provider explained the situation and the rep on the phone issued me a new number for FREE. I know its an inconvience, but collection agencies are crutial to the economy.

If bad debts didn’t get collected on then more and more people would default and cause all of our intrest rates to rise. I realize there are bad collectors that break the laws, but most don’t. There are lots of people on this board that feel they’ve been wronged. If you truly feel that way and have a legal basis then sue. Many lawyers will take on a good case to sue a collection agency for FREE. My point is there are solutions for everyone out there that may take a little time and committment but are the right thing to do. Most of the the the right the to do is not the easiest. Change your number. Sue. Pay your bill. Send a cease and desist letter. Take action and DO the RIGHT thing.

    Just my 2 cents.

  101. Hello nco collector: (for the benefit of everyone else):
Not sure which FDCPA you are referring to (maybe some fictitious one you were trained on), but the actual federal law in no way, anywhere, permits a collector to call all day, everyday, if there is no answer. In fact, repeated telephone calls are explicit violations under the law. There is no law, anywhere, requiring anyone to answer any call from anyone at any time, much less a collection agency. Nor is anyone obligated to speak to, or say word one, to a collection agency. By calling all day, everyday, a collector is violating MULTIPLE federal laws (and probably the debtor’s home state laws), primarily 15 USC sec. 1692 (Fair Debt Collection Practices Act-FDCPA). I have personally experienced this, having received over 500 calls from NCO over a 4 week period. That’s right: 500! Unfortunately for NCO, I have the records to prove it. Not only have I reported them to my state atty. general, but the PA atty. general, FTC, and several of the trade associations they claim to be members of on their website (ncogroup.com). [All of the associations have a complaint process against members. It’s funny too, they all have “codes of ethics” members must adhere to. Yeah, right. They’re debt collection associations. I’ll hold my breath to see what happens.] I am also suing them in civil court. Perhaps if enough other people do the same, something will happen. You can take them to small-claims and do it for cheap. Just know your rights and have ample evidence to back up your claims. KEEP RECORDS OF EVERYTHING!!! How this company continues to keep their doors open is utterly beyond me. If I or my company broke the law in our industry, we’d be shut down before we knew what hit us. Court records show that NCO has been sued over 1000 times, by everyone from individuals, to class actions, to the Commonwealth of PA, and the Federal Govt. They have injunctions against them from violating the FCRA (Fair Credit Reporting Act), and did settle federal charges for $1.50 million dollars for violating the FCRA. They also have a settlement agreement on record with The Commonwealth of PA obliging them to adhere to their obligations under FCRA and FDCPA. (Google it all). BY THE WAY: It is also a federal offense under 47 USC, sec. 227 (b)(1)(B) to initiate any call to any residence using a pre-recorded device to leave a message, and another federal offense under 47 USC, sec. 223 (a)(1)(D) and (E) to cause a telephone to ring repeatedly or to utilize telecommunication devices to place such calls (ie. telephone harassment). Obviously check with a competent attorney to validate any of this, I AM NOT GIVING LEGAL ADVICE. In short, “nco collector”, unfortunately you don’t know what you are talking about, and I hope you have since left the collection business, so that you can move on with your life and stop being subjected to abuse. If not, be aware that you can be named a direct party to civil action if any is brought against your company. I hope this all helps someone out there. There has to be a way to shut this abonimable company down, and I have decided to make it my mission to find out how!

  102. I have found that the best way to deal with these debt collectors is to send a validation letter. You can get an example at:

    http://www.fair-debt-collection.com/Disputing_Collections/initial-dispute-letter.html

Then, if they call without verifying the debt, you keep copies of all the call dates & times and, according to the FDCPA, they are liable for up to $1000 per call after they receive the letter. Send 2 copies, one regular and one certified, return receipt. That way you have a receipt of when they received it.

You can also send a “Do Not Call Letter” which you can get on the same site:

    http://www.fair-debt-collection.com/Disputing_Collections/stop-calling-letter.html

Once again, if they fail to follow the request, there is a penalty for each call after the request is received by them.

Unfortunately, you must usually answer the phone for their calls and verbally dispute the debt. That way, they need to send you a letter about the debt, if they haven’t already.

I am not advocating not paying your debts, but sometimes it requires fighting for your rights against companies like this, ESPECIALLY if they have PURCHASED the debt from your original creditor. That happened to me - I was paying off my credit cards from college through a CCCS with payment arrangements through all of my cards. One bank sold the debt, even though payments were being made. It is now in litigation, even though the amount they are trying to collect is, according to my records, is incorrect. It is a time-consuming process, but can be worth it in the end if it ends.

NCO, CRS, Asset Acceptance (now calling themselves AIS) have had major problems in the past and now collecting debts. AIS is even trying to collect a debt after ignoring a validation letter (they replied by asking for a SS# and tons of personal information, like looking it up by name, address and phone number weren’t enough).

Well, that’s my 2 cents (all I can AFFORD to give with the litigation :-)

  103. NCO Numbers:
    1-800-709-8625
    1-800-394-3194
I have a new phone number, perhaps it belonged to somebody else who had debt, however they will not stop calling the number. I called the 800 numbers and both times encountered the same extremely rude and unhelpful secretary/operator. Twice she transfered me to a recording while I was in mid-sentence asking them not to call me anymore, then I called from a phone that has caller-ID blocked, and nobody picked up at all, it went straight to the recording.

  104. My tenants call me to say that NCO is calling them about a bad debt. This debt was from a prior tenant who has long since moved. I’ve called NCO several times to tell them that the person they’re looking has moved and no longer resides at that adr./phone number. They assured me that they would take their debtor off their calling list. But they keep calling.
What’s with these idiots?! How do I get them to stop harassing my tenants?

  105. I used to work years ago for NCO. Yes they are rip-offs and will try to charge your accounts off to file legal fees. They hire anyone off the streets to collect on debt. Please, dont give them your personal information. You have no idea who is on the other side of the phone.

  106. NCO has started on me in the last week. They are using a caller ID of “Budget Cleaning” 1-800-956-4638

  107. I’ve been getting automated calls from NCO for a few weeks now #1-800-860-4200, and it’s never a person, even if I answer it, just the automated message telling me to call back. I know I don’t have any outstanding debt (I had a problem a few years ago that get paid off the beginning of ‘07 with a different credit company) and I haven’t gotten anything in the mail or anything specifically with my name on it, I’d love to just keep ignoring them but the phone calls are just getting ridiculous now. Does sending the cease and desist letter actually work? or am I going to actually have to eventually call these people back?

  108. I have been taunted by many NCO personel and it is a very nerve racking feeling, a sinking feeling everytime the phone rang. I tried to ignore it kinda like the “heartbeat under the floor in EdgarA Poe” they called me at work as well as 8am to 9pm. They recorded my voice everytime i spoke to them. I just received another call from a Mr.Frank. or people like David Spillman (NCO). It’s a fuckin nightmare. But then again I have been iresponsible for them hounding me. So i can this, They use a automated dialing system in the morning at 7am, then when they had their coffee i assume the get bigger balls and converse with you in a rude way. I can see it now, I new Yahoo at NCO is getting advise from a overweight , donut consuming piece of lard telling him you must talk down to these people and give them misguided information. Oh yeah they fly under RADAR on all of the conversation. That is why they monitor the calls they make ( low beeps in the back ) All in all if you can pay these fucks what they want the they will stop. They do make you feel like shit, so like cancer use the family as chemo and rid these mutations from your life. If you are worried about telling your spouse or family about this. don’t. Just tell them and getthe funds. They will NOT stop. and mailing a letter is only adding salt to the wound. you will have your day in court trust me it’s happening to me next week.

  109. btw ..I know how to spell…i was making fun of your spelling…

  110. Hey Ms collector,I can see why you have that job. You can’t spell or use correct graamar…it’s ridiculous…

  111. NCO contacted us at an address re: a debt that is not mine. I have not contacted NCO since they don’t have my name or phone number, only my address. I never owed this debt to begin with, and I don’t want my name associated with someone else’s debt. I have filed complaints with the state atty gen. Anyone else have a similar experience? What should one do if they don’t owe the debt to begin with? I don’t want my credit tarnished b/c of someone else’s old debt.

  112. I have read most if not all of the complaints and am shocked that people are so cruel and foul mouthed on the internet as well as the phones. I understand alot of your frustrations but most collectors are not rude and are geniunely tryng to help people get out of collections. Collections is not a easy thing to do but it is a job. We have bills too and it isn’t personal. So the name calling and racial slurs isn’t necessary. People do call wrong numbers the company is not tryng to make you pay someone else’s debt, it is just a wrong number and as far as getting 3 and 4 calls a day..yes that is ridiculous and we dont agree with it but per fdcpa a call can be placed everyday all day if there is no answer. If u are getting calls from nco and you tell them it is a wrong number most likely the rep has removed it and another dept has a debt which explains the different numbers….no nco dept has more than one number. To address the people who do owe the debts… it is understandable that people fall on hard times but it is a debt that u owe and should pay without being threatened to do so…put yourself in the creditors position if someone owed you money they would probably get more than a phone call or a letter. I just have one request can we all be adults on the phone because the name calling isnt getting anything solved and it only making the person doing it look childish.

  113. Please everyone follow these directions.
Call NCO back on those toll free numbers you have. Call them and call them and call them …non stop, over and over again. Call till it hurts. Keep them on the phone as long as possible. Put their number on redial…… you get the idea. PLEASE do this. If everyone does this they’ll get the idea.

  114. It’s me again. I’m still recieving “no ID” calls and when I answer, they leave a message with this contact number 800-707-2637 and codes. When I call back no one answers or “we are not available at this moment” recorded messages, etc.

I’m worried because here people are complaining about being harrased, with their credit ruined, and no solution at all even when they don’t owe a dollar, and even if they send the certified, return-receipt cease and desist letter. It’s unbelievable people must hire a company to delete the false negative info off the credit report…

So, if anyone can tell me: is the only final solution to get a lawyer for this? Did any of you find a way to stop those guys?

  115. This is to the NCO collection scumbag that wrote in that it’s your fault that your in debt thing. What about us that ARE NOT IN DEBT that regularly get phone calls from NCO asking for someone that we don’t know. I have talked to at least 7 different people and explained that the person they are seeking does not have this number. Does it help? NO! The “dumbasses” still call! So don’t tell me that your only trying to collect a debt lady!! Quit that company before somebody goes postal!! They are the rudest, dumbest, and most unresponsible company I have ever tried to deal with!

  116. got hang up call 770-300-2500. just a hang up. yesterday same thing 240-219-7101 google sent me here. i heard about telephone consumer protection act, may be able to sue

  117. I have no debt and yet they wrote a letter to me saying I owed $8,000 to Chase Bank. I requested a letter of validation and it has been one month with no answer. I wrote to 60 Minutes and I suggest you do the same.

  118. I am not in debt and yet I received a letter from NCO saying I owed over $8,000 to Chase Bank.I sent NCO a request for validation of debt and I haven’t heard from NCO. If you are receiving letters or calls from NCO and you have no debt, write to 60 minutes like I did and perhaps they will do a story on the corruption of NCO.

  120. These People call me 2 times each time at 8 Am then at 12pm then at3pm then at 8pm
I phoned the company I owed money too and they do not go outside of the company to collect so Why? are these people calling me when they have No business or Authority to do so!
here are a few of the numbers:

    704-817-0540
    253-248-6406
Not to metion numbers that say Unassigned that they use.

  121. These people are crazy. I gave them an option to pay the original balance or not get paid at all and she screamed in the phone and said people like me is why she has a job…then slammed the phone on me.

  122. I’ve been recieving calls from “No ID number”. They are from a collector company (no name) and they just leave a message for you to call the phone 800-707-2637 and a code number for you to inmediately pay with your credit card, but they don’t say who is charging you and why.

I positively say I don’t have debts. It’s ridiculous because I’m in the US from just a few months. No idea how these people got my number!!

  123. these fuckers aren’t worth the shit on my lawn…..best thing to do is irritate the shit of of them and tell them that if they don’t want to be bothered themselves …then stop harrassing…..if you have time then flood their lines and ask them if they like to fuck dogs or cats…..lol

  124. To Anon - High5

  125. called me from (770)300-2500 for third week in a row. Ignored requests to communicate in writing. Whatever time day or night the phone rings it is NCO or the autodialer. I have had phony and fruadlent prkissory notes sent to me, they know my address but keep calling in this slurring, we’re jes black folk accent with a twang. I am writing 60 minutes. They use a diffeent number every day.

  126. another new #1-800-2202274

  127. new # 1-866-816-1066

  128. Hey NCO Collector, what makes you think that refusing to pay the exorbitant interest and fees charged by corporate thieves is “stealing” Who’s stealing from whom? If you have a problem with thievery, why do you work for your shyster of an employer?

  129. I receive a calls and letters from NCO constantly. The account they mention has been paid for years. I have no idea what to do about this situation. Once I figure something out, I’ll let you know what worked for me.

  130. A Michigan collection agency calling
themselves Asset Acceptance, calls from numbers 866-429-3592 and 866-429-3591.
    Its a company of NCO,right?
They have reported incorrect negative information on my credit report for years. They Never sent me a letter, bill or anything. They never validated the debt, They just have been reporting it for years, while adding large amounts to the original owed and
reaging the debt so it stays on longer,
even putting false date of last activity on my credit report.
The number shows up a few times a year,
so they don’t call very often.
Once I answered a cell phone with a
Florida number and it was some Guy
asking when we were going to pay
Asset Acceptance. I said I do Not owe
it, they never validated it and hung up. I have not heard from them since.
However they have ruined my credit report for years, causing me damages,
I have not been able to buy a home in
years because of them. I cannot even get a 300 dollar loan, because of them.
Any Lawyers out there willing to Sue them For everything they’ve got?

  131. 877-869-5331

The phone no. comes up—out of area–
on my caller ID. They leave a message
to call them back. I have read these
kind of reports and have not returned
their calls as that is an exercise in
futility. I guess I’ll wait for a letter
    and go from there.

  132. They’re HQ is in Pennsylvania. File your complaints with the PA Attorney General’s office, which has gone after this company in the past.

  133. I saw the entry below and have been having the same experience from the same #. These bastards call me about 6 times a week, sometime twice a day on my cell phone. The oddest thing is the automated voice on the other line switches from a woman to a man to a woman with a strict British accent

“This pigs called me too - ironically on the same day I had order an up to date credit check. Who are they?! Why are they calling?! How did they get my info. Like many of you - they called a cell phone I recently purchased…the number is new.

Here is the # they called me on:
    1 800 810-0590

    THEY SUCK!

  134. 888-626-2905… these people are a joke.

  135. 60 minutes will investigate NCO if we ALL send them our experience with NCO via snail mail at the following address! Please watch your language!

  136. Another number for NCO: 215-436-8621 This one did not come up in searching this page or Call Ferret.

NCO is attempting to contact me on an account that has been closed for at least 8 years now. At least that’s how far back my finacial records go, but it is more likely longer than that. I even looked at my credit reports for the past few years (yes, I save them) and cannot find the original creditor, to whom NCO says I owe, on any of them.

I received a letter from NCO a couple weeks ago, out of the blue. I was going to ‘just throw it away’, but glad I waited and came across this web page. I sent NCO a “Cease & Desist” letter, which I know NCO has received by the Return Receipt. NCO still continues to call. I have my phone set to “Restrict Incoming Calls Except Contacts” (phone only rings if caller is in my contacts list, but shows only in my missed calls). So, I do not know anyone outside of my contacts called unless I look at my missed calls list. I am logging the dates/times & numbers which NCO uses in attempting to contact me. This page helps me identify all the different numbers NCO uses so I can be sure the calls came from NCO and the call was not a telemarketing or some other business call.

Note to NCO: “Please keep calling me, and please write again soon. I will be turning over my paper trail and logs to my attorney in the near future.”

  138. grrrr…NCO calls saying my husband owes them for an unpaid debt in the amont of 317 for a walmart card that was paid off a year ago still have the check and bank statements that show it so i called and wanted a fax number or an email address so i could fax over the statements i have called them 6 times today i have got 2 different fax numbers when i asked them for another one they said the fax should be on here is the number which is 7164042116 the other number was18664525485 and i told him they where not real number my fax says no answer he said well this one should be on what the fuck hello you dont know if it’s on. the number that i called to get ahold of them was18888994778 they say they dont have an email address so that way i could make sure it got to them. this fax stuff isnt working and i am getting really mad

  139. NCO has called me 4x in one day on my CELL PHONE!!!!!!!! How they got the number I have no idea and they never say who they are calling for. It could be for me or someone else. I refuse to answer and have them waste my cell phone minutes. I think there is a law about debt collectors calling cell phones. Whoever they are I wish they would ease up on the calling….da**!!!!!!!!!

  140. We had a death in the family so I flew to the NW from the South to be with my family. I answer the phone a few minutes past 8aM!!! on a Saturday morning to listen to a freakin automated dialer requesting that I call back ‘ms.griffith’ @ 866-284-6832 — of course I don’t live here… of course i blocked the number… and of course they have no idea where to go UNTIL you give them your phone number so they can harass you. So I said some nice things about the 10-15 dollar an hour bottom feeding whore that they are and the company…. and hung up… then called back… again… Really grinds my gears that on a weekend morning these lunatics crank up the autodialer to see what poor souls they can have return their calls which are nothing more than poorly baited hooks. ALSO… after looking up some info about the company I discover that they make their money by purchasing illegitamit or ancient debts and then try to find a way to get payment…when they are either not valid or past all statutes of limitations… and perhaps the 1.5 million they paid to the ftc didn’t sting enough to let them know… I wish their was something else I could do other than call them back and waste their little phone peoples time with my animosity. They are truly not at fault - it is the egomaniac brainiac executives that watch the numbers as the people in the trenches do all the nasty work. Those people need to get dinged with another hefty penalty… i probably wouldnt be so ticked if I wasnt staying at my younger sisters house… who had excellent financial history…and is the family member that passed away - I have enough people calling for the inherent reasons…I dont need a company (only by simple definition) that operates like this to call me on a weekend so early…and for NOTHING

I would love to pursue this company when I return home and see if I cant create some problems for them. Very bad timing on their part…

    back to bed =\

  141. Apparently being literate and having good grammar are not requirements for being an annoying phone-jockey. Thanks for sharing your ignorance as well as the ignorance of your employer, Mr. Debt Collector.

  142. In RESPONSE TO THAT PREVIOUS POST FROM THE DEBT COLLECTOR. The economy is crumbling and your supervisors are scrambling to come up with anyway possible, mostly illegal ways to get the money coming in. If the money doesn’t come in, you are out of work and that crooked agency which you work for will crumble. Sorry to hear that all you know in life is telemarketing and collections. Dont come crawling to me for a job. I’ll spit in your face.

  143. NCO is harassing me for a disputed debt that dates back to 1989. The company cannot provide proof of the purchase, despite the fact that the items were refunded. This was before many merchants were using electronic terminals. NCO was informed via CERTIFIED/RETURN RECEIPT MAIL to stop all contact. I havent heard a thing from them since 2004. Now they are bombarding me with these phone messages. This company is once again breaking the law. FYI The government uses this illegal company to collect on delinquent educational loans.

I filed complaints with the attorney gen, and numerous other agencies. Waiting for replies. I am also filing suit against NCO and seeking class action status. NYC Area.

  144. For he/she claiming to work for AMEX; your probably not important enough in your organization to understand/know about the disgusting practices AMEX and other credit card companies use to get people to spend money they dont have. Its a billion dollar industry, you moron (my apology, you’re probably not a moron, but just a no-body AMEX employee, so how would you really know). Also, the money wouldnt be OWED if the consumer successfully filed chapter 7, or if it were proven that they were a victim of identity fraud as I was. American Express are simply ass holes about this, and that is that!

  145. 1800 810 0590

  146. someone just called me
i didnt remember any debts so i googled the number and found this. I missed their call, so i guess i shouldnt bother calling back?!?!

  147. 800-511-8670 is another number. They called me this morning with this bullshit about me owing money for some debt. This is a load of crap!!!!!

  148. By the way, not to the dumbass who calls himself “Debt Collector”:

Some of us receive harassing calls by NCO looking for other people that are not known to us.
Get a clue, stupid. The people who owe you money might be giving out phony numbers to avoid your sorry ass, you scum-sucking bottom feeder.

  149. I just got a call from these asswipes looking for a woman who doesn’t live here.

When I asked for a supervisor I got the runaround. I think the call was routed to India.

    The number is (866) 372- 8497

    Contact Person: Tanmay

Tanmay is a fucking asshole, by the way.

Thanks for the heads up on this, I’ll be sending them a certified letter.

  150. i have received numerous letters from nco out of the blue. i overdrafted with bank of america like 4 years ago (i was 19!!!) and i owed money and it was paid off with a credit card..i have proof to this day that it was paid and in nov 2007 my parents are getting calls from the looking for me. They won’t leave their name and are extremly RUDE. They told me to fax my proof and their manager would review it and make a decison. I also think that it is odd to have 2 totally seperate addresses on their letters in 2 totally different states. The number that they contacted me with is 888-848-0833. The addresses on my statement are P.O.BOX 15630 DEPT 27 WILMINGTON, DE 19850 AND 507 Prudential Road, Horsham, PA 19044

  151. NCO has been calling and harassing for a debt that is not even mine. I have asked them numerous times to stop calling and take my number out of their computer system. Call the compliance department if you are receiving harassing calls for a debt that you do not owe. They will take your number out of their system immediately since they have already been sued and found guilty of violating federal law.

  152. 215-441-3000 is yet another number they harass my girlfriend from. They hang up every single time with no message. I called them back to find out who they were, the first person hung up on me when i reported the problem. She owes no debt, but this dishonest and illegal method of “debt collecting” is still getting us upset.
