In case you are getting calls from the wonderful people at NCO Financial Systems. You should read some messages people have posted about this company. Apart from having to pay $1.5 million to settle Federal Trade Commission charges that it violated the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), there are also many many claims of state and federal violations of legislation like the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) and the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA).
The company purchases old debt from people like your cellphone provider, hospitals and the government for pennies on the dollar and then tries to collect it. You may have even already paid the bill, like I had, but that is really a minor irrelevant point. The reality is, much if not most of this debt is so old noone has any obligation to repay any of it, least of all not to NCO. Many people have been harassed for debt belonging to neighbors, relatives, old residents of the same address, and co-workers. Don’t pay NCO a penny.
If you receive letters or phone calls from NCO or phone numbers like
800-709-8625 or 888-804-3488 or 877-803-8009 or 800-541-2742 or 888-688-7929 or 800-445-4918 or 866-569-8956 or 800-218-1175 or 800-448-9576 or 800-684-8429 or 866-429-3592 or 800-976-8307 or 877-871-6484 or 800-735-6588 or 800-220-1942 or 877-778-1799 or 800-227-4000 or 800-807-7809 or 866-626-9112 or 866-425-8131 or 800-967-4100 or 877-252-4534 or 877-202-9074 or 888-691-8955 or 888-259-3021 or 800-437-7403 or
800-383-4761 or 866-360-9791 you should read this page about the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. If NCO does anything wrong with you, you could be entitled to $1000 per infraction and they may have to pay your lawyer and possibly even your debt.
To halt their “contact”, send NCO a certified, return-receipt cease and desist letter (they throw away all faxes and non-certified letters). A sample letter might read (though, you must seek real legal advice, which I’m not):
This is to advise you that pursuant to the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (“FDCPA”) 15 USC 1692c(c), you are hereby notified to immediately terminate any contact with me, or any members of my family or household, regarding any matter concerning the collection of a debt you allege is owed to your company or to your principal/customer/client. This notice shall include, but is not limited to written correspondence, as well as telephonic communication. This letter also verifies that I live at the address above, therefore, any further locator attempts would be a violation of the FDCPA.

Is NCO calling you? Do you have a new NCO phone number or information? Please leave a comment and share it with the rest of us. Thanks!
NCO may or may not report your debt dispute with them on your credit report. It is important to make sure that if NCO puts anything on your credit report, all of the information is accurate, such as date of debt, last activity on account and the correct amount. That information is not always placed on all three major reports and your valid creditors usually only check one of these sources, so make sure you check all three (TransUnion, Equifax and Experian) for correct information. You should also check your credit score at these agencies to see the impact of your debt history on your credit-worthiness. Click to obtain a copy of your 3-in-1 Credit Report.
If NCO does not leave you alone, Lexington Law is an affordable legal tool to get them to stop calling and writing you. They are also very effective at deleting the negative information off of your credit reports.
For help fixing your credit report, you can reach Lexington Law at 877-699-5735.
Oh, and Miss Hill, thanks for calling ;)
Important! File a complaint with the Pennsylvania Attorney General – easy online form (NCO is a PA company and PA is investigating NCO)
P.S. The Pennsylvania Attorney General recently finished a big case against them, though the complaints continue.

Something showed up on my credit report. I called the number 800-709-8610 for days and left numerous messages with no return call.
SO… i decided to alter the number a little 800-709-8610 BINGO!!! NCO . I’ve been on hold for 30 minutes. Its funny how they harrass you, but when you have something to say… no response.
I paid my debt of $193 in 2010. When I ran my credit score in 2011 it was still there. I vaguely remembered paying it, but just wanted it off my report so I paid again. I just pulled my credit report and they are still on there as a delinquent account for the same amount of money. I disputed it, but the worst part is they are the only ones keeping my score lower than I should have. What should I do further to be sure they are removed from my report for good!
Yes, I’m getting calls from NCO, too: from my phone company’s Privacy Director service. Message says, “Call back 800-786-3930 ~ Refer to ID #——”. Mine is a legitimate debt, medical, which I am appealing through my insurance. I tried to call NCO just to tell them this, but the woman who replied to the message I left had no knowledge of NCO. She said she was with “Thompson Law” and asked if I was looking for help with credit card debt. When I said no, she wished me luck in finding NCO!
I’m mystified, any help appreciated. I must say, though, they may have divisions involved in scams but they are also a legitimate, if unsavory, collection agency. See Wikipedia for an outline directory of the company, its subsidiaries, and its history. I do not think it is safe to just ignore IF you actually owe.

This is the number i received the call from: 631-440-2079
I never got a phone call from them but when I looked at my bank statement last month I had a withdrall of $20 fron NCO. there phone # 800-550-9619 was with there name. I checked back and there was more taken $20 in Jan. $10 in April, and $20 in May. When I called them they said it wasn’t them. My bank gave me back the last $20 but the others were too far back. I don’t check my bank acct. that often but I guess I will now. I’m having to file a complaint with the PA. Att. Gen. Office. During this time I had changed my bank card # twice but they still were able to take money out. HOW?
i was wondering if nco can clean your bank account if its not your money if you have a bill and are tyring to settle with them i wanna pay my account but i wanna sellte for a lesser amount
New # 1-866-637-0271 (to watch out for)
Leave only a vague message to call them back, with no info as to who they are calling, why, and on what matter. BLEH!
800-711-0454 another number
When they call and you answer, or if you call back, tell them you are from a State that requires you to disclose recording of telephone conversations and you are recording this call…. They hang up.
They have called me numerous times looking for a family member I’ve had contact with only a couple times in the last 6 years. I spoke to them twice, both times asking how they got MY unlisted phone number (they won’t tell me), and requesting them to remove me from their database. Still getting calls. Came from 888-475-6741.
Here are two additional numbers: 877-847-0092 and 877-273-3495. Both numbers are from the same call. One is the number that my voicemail told me the call was coming from when I pressed “5″ on my cell phone; the other is the number that the person leaving the message gave for me to call back. This is the first call from NCO in recent memory. It came about a week after getting a call from another, similarly disreputable collection agency called Financial Services Inc. I have not received calls from either company before and have not incurred any new debts recently. Either both companies use the same practices of searching public records to get people’s numbers to call; or perhaps an equally unscrupulous third party is selling this information to both bad collectors.
Not sure how they received my cell phone number, yet two weeks ago from this date, they have started to call me. Very few people have my cell number, I do not understand how they have gotten it. Following are the numbers they have called me from: 763-200-6592, 609-373-1904, 832-301-125. All three numbers are within the last 7 days. I have no debt. They are barking up the wrong tree.
these ppl called me at 8:59 am and it was some guy i could hardly understand he told me to hold for his associate he put me on hold for like 10 mins i got tired of waiting so i hung up. what is the deal with them callin me and put me on hol. i dont even know who the heck these ppl are they are calling from a 1-800-8774127
So I went to go look at my credit report and I see nco does not have an amount nore any contact info nothing but says its active. Tried contacting them and still nothing what do I do how can I get that removed for my credit report?!? All the stuff I have in collections I have either payed off or I’m paying off so I have no clue wat this could be!
NCO HAS BEEN CALLING MY PHONE FOR OVER A YEAR LOOKING FOR SOMEONE ELSE. DESPITE REPEATED ATTEMPTS TO GET THEM TO STOP CALLING – I AM AT MY WITS END. APPARENTLEY WHEN THEY CAN’T LOCATE SOMEONE THEY START CALLING PEOPLE WITH THE SAME NAME, SAME NEIGHBORHOOD ETC. IF THIS IS HAPPENING TO A LOT OF OTHER PEOPLE AND I’M SURE IT IS , I THINK WE WOULD HAVE A SHOT AT A HUGE CLASS ACTION SUIT THAT MAY FINALLY MAKE THEM REALIZE THE ERROR OF THEIR WAYS.
MY EM IS DFXD@AOL.COM
Received a call today at 3:28 PDT from 866-315-2497. Did not answer and they did not leave a message. I called back to see if anyone would answer, and a woman answered and asked my name. Only gave first name and she then said my last name (maybe my caller ID is not blocked as it should be?), and told me it was for two outstanding bills from LAFD for brush clearance. Told her that was incorrect, as I’ve never received a notice, and could she send me the backup…when she asked if it should be sent to xx address, it was my previous residence which I sold in 2005. Told her whatever she’s doing, not my responsibility.
Constant calls for weeks. Called tonite wanting to verify birth date. Harassment. #8666370270
I got an automated call from them this morning at 8:00. I called back to see what they had. I have referred them to my attorney. They have a program, through an attorney’s office, in Oregon that helps seniors and disabled with these kind of problems. It is called Help Eliminate Legal Problems for Seniors and Disabled. It is to stop all the harrassment calls, letters, etc. It also protects youfrom creditors illegally attaching your bank account and taking your Social Security & Pension income. It is my understanding that there are other states with similar programs. For information in Oregon 1-855-435-7787.
Ever since I got this number, I get calls from them at least once a day. I do not answer calls from people I don’t know, and I do not return unknown calls if no voice mail is left. Numbers are 1-609-373-1904 — 1-763-200-6592 — 1-216-200-5188
New number, I guess if you see a non 800 number they guess right, yup, I called it back and it’s NCOS. I didn’t know who it was until I searched and found this site. So here is another # to add to the growing list
823 301-8125
document all calls received, numbers, times and what or who they are trying to collect a debt from. Document all calls for several days, weeks, whatever then contact your State Attorney General. They will handle it.
This company has call my work and cell phone in a matter to collect students loan and they tell me that if i dont make a payment they are going to take my wages. They call all the time and it is mind recking they call from 1-888-475-6741 which i noticed that number on another comment.
what can i do to get this to stop.
They are calling me at work and also calling my daughter who was a minor when she was listed on my account. What is the best way to handle them?New number is 18003502457.
Get a robo call every week from NCO–got one this morning,–we are supposed to call and speak with “Sandy Thomas”. No debts here, don’t know what this is about. Will not ever call their numbers, if they can’t give us info, we’re not going to offer any! Ah, the hazards of a land line! Scary to hear that they are calling other peoples’ cell phones.
I’m not get calls from NCO but I do however all of the sudden have a reporting on my credit report from them and do not know why. It is having an impact on my reports and would like it removed so what should I do?
They are doing the same with me! I was looking on my credit report and i found that they were requesting my information few times and i would like toknow why they do that?
Criminal. They stole $500 from my account. I have no clue how but they claim it was for collection on con Edison account… I never had.
I filed fraudulent activity and changed my account.
I have been getting calls from NCO too. I also get calls from other groups too. I don’t answer these calls, but they are so annoying. I also think something should be done when they call your cell or text you. Many people have a set number of texts per month or calls for their cell. This is one time I think the government needs to step in and stop these groups from bothering people.

Recording saying contact Pam shaw……866 230 5202
Get several calls a week from NCO Financial Systems asking that I return a call to them. This is regarding a bogus debt from Progressive insurance company. I have told them repeatedly that I cancelled the Auto-Insurance policy with Progressive several months ago, and have the cancellation letter to prove it. I contacted Progressive about the matter, and they agreed. NCO calls sometimes twice per day from several different numbers. May 25, 2012 9:09 am; May 29, 2012 2:51 pm; May 31, 2012 9:10 am; June 4, 2012 3:21 pm; June 5, 2012 5:12 pm; June 8, 2012 2:58 pm; June 11, 2012 6:07 pm; June 12, 2012 8:47 pm; June 13, 2012 8:22 am…..these are the last 9 calls. 3 calls in may only 6 days apart, first 4 in June 7 days apart (illegal according to Pa. law and NCO is a Pa. Company currently under investigation, they are only allowed 3 per week on LEGITIMATE debts.) 6 calls in June so far and only 9 days apart for a debt I do not even owe!!!! I Want it stopped!!!!
I can give you some advise.
1 to stop collection calls in any state get a tape recorder. A cheap one is the best.
2 Paper trail write them a letter very firm that states they are to cease all phone calls to you and anything they have to say put it in writing,
3 change your phone number and unlist it Pay the $10 to Zaba to remove all reference to where you live You can find that on Zaba.com
take them to Attorney Generals office. Pay Pals not a financal institution or s bank . If you can get into your account remove your Social Security Number and Change your banking accounts and any cards linked.
I have gotten a few calls now from 800-448-9570. Each of which they hang up when i answer the phone. I call back to see who they are and it is definitely NCO. I do not have ANY outstanding debts therefore should not be receiving calls from an organization as such.
NCO is calling my house constantly and we don’t even owe any debts! We pay all our bills and never miss our payments. However about a year ago, we were receiving phone calls from someone leaving messages pertaining to my husbands sister who owes a debt.
They just started bothering us about a couple weeks ago. We blocked all their calls and yet they still won’t leave us alone about her debt! Is that even legal?
Still coming; calls from 800-448-9570 – female keeps leaving hard to understand message talking in light speed. I list this number here since I barely understood NCO spoken on the message.
so far i do not hear of any one being sued so I have to wonder if this is a scam. They are only allowed 2 calls in a 7 day period under the FDCPA law so they can be sued. Either send them a cease and decist order certified with a return receipt or be smart enough to not answer or respond to their calls. Calling back only makes their day.
I have received Five calls from NCO. The last# they clled from is 1- 205- 561- 2459. All the callers had a foreign ( Indian) accent. I have never heard of the person they are looking for and I told them that Five times. I,m keeping a record of their calls so I have ammunition to get them good.
got a call from 603-589-7556 not for me but I knew the name. I have been just letting call go to messages but they never leave one. Thats crazy!

I am receiving multiple phone calls from NCO Financial up to 5 calls per day, every day of the week Monday through Saturday!
Numbers are 1-800-448-9570 and 1-716-568-5810 . The phone number for calling them back is 1-877-233-2705.

Same as above: “sometimes three times within 10 minutes. I usually let it go to voice mail. Sometimes they leave a message, sometimes they don’t”. The phone number for calling them back is 1-877-233-2705.
Just received a message on voicemail last night to call 800-334-0626 and ask for Diane Myer. The message didn’t even indicate who the call was for. Has anyone had this same experience and had a message to call this person? Thank you.
They called me on my cell phone The number on the caller ID showed as 614-717-4395. The person that called was looking for a relative and claimed that the relative had applied for a job with them and gave me as a reference. They were missing some info and the phone number they had for the relative was not a good number. They wanted to know if I knew the person and if I had their phone number. I got the person’s name and number and told her I would call her right back. The number she gave was 800-388-4519. I called it and it is NCO Financial. So I googled the name and look what I found.
Was left a message today by NCO (first time I ever heard of them) to call “Pam Shaw” at 1-800-785-1526. Like others, I have no outstanding debts. They did not identify the alleged creditor or amount, which seems to be illegal. I filed a complaint just now online with the PA AG.
I have no intention of calling them back. I may send a certified cease and desist letter. Glad I did a search to find this info!
NCOFS cause my bank account tobe over drowned, every couple of days they try to get $85.00 out of my account which is $35.00 dollars everytime this is causing a problem for me with my bills I need to pay . What is so bad I do not know who this is. This company did not give the bank a phone just some numbers and letters . I did not give this company authorasation to go into my bank account. OVER DROWN HELP!
Call your bank and tell them that you didn’t authorize the transactions. They may have to open a new account for you and close your old one so that NCO no longer has a valid account number to keep charging you at. And make sure you’re adamant about the fact you never authorized the company in the first place. The bank should then dismiss all your overdraft fees. If they don’t, get a different bank. I recommend a credit union, but that’s just my opinion. Good luck!
Oh boy have I gotten calls from NCO! Tons, for months- everyday! I know it’s for outstanding bills from more than 10 yrs ago. However, just 2 weeks ago I received an email of a scanned letter from my last landlord- I moved from there 7yrs ago- for writ of garnishment.
They’ve gone to a judge and are now garnishing my wages. As you can imagine I’m pretty pissed off about it but not sure I can do much at all. They are taking 25% of my pay weekly, argh!
I too had the number for a Nicole Irvin#800-709-8625 call me. When I called the number back – I got a representative on the phone & asked for them to take my number off of their call list. He said he would – it will take 24 hours – and then he asked if a certain person was available. A guy that worked here over ten years ago. My advice – call the number & ask them to put you on their Do Not Call List. Good luck!!
I have done everything in my power ,,, even went to money management
i think the bank of america passed this bill on to nco,,,,, after working with them for years ,,,, our bills were paid until they threw 30 % interest on ….
just would not work with us,,,,, everyother account did work with us.
sad but true,,, nco is threating me with a law suit….
I have been receiving phone calls (back to back) at work and on my cell phone from 1-866-290-3164 and 888-475-6741. The rep is named Ms. Pritchard and she has been harassing me at my job for the last month. I believe that it’s regarding student loans, however; I was working with the DOE on this matter. She has left back to back messages and even had one of my employees transfer her to my boss; he in fact sent her to my phone instead. Isn’t there a law prohibiting them from this type of harassment. Does the consumer have any recourse for this action? I’m thinking of sending a cease and desist letter to the? Please let me know how you have handled this situation.
They are calling my cell phone for my step brother but the number they called me an my mom is 215-441-3000
they keep calling for someone who has never lived here! I am sure it is for my ex’s wife…. so not my problem! sick of getting these calls…
800-684-8429
I am getting calls at least twice a day from this number for someone who is not me and has never owned this phone. I get automated voicemails if I don’t pick up. I have tried to connect to them to tell them to stop calling me, but I get an automated system runaround.
Some days they will call as much as 8 times a day with the same message every time. This is ridiculous and has been going on for nearly 2 weeks. The number they call me from is 800-709-8625.
been getting calls for more than 3 weeks now from a Bernard Soros from NCO. the number they ask me to call is : 1800-350-2457. people just have no shame in this world all for the greed of money.
I just received the same call, same number.
Have begun getting calls this week from NCO are a student loan I have and which is defaulted. I am no longer living in the US and not a US citizen….I spoke to them earlier tell them to send me paperwork so that I can set up a plan. To be honest I not sure if they even have justritiction in my country
NCO Financial Systems, Inc. – (800) 303-1995 – bothering me again – decided to check them out and found this site. Thank you. Dealt with them in the past due to a credit card debt- so I paid .. and guess what – although the account was paid (???) it still shows up on my bank statement as a balance owed. No one bothers me for that one and I will check it out – but… did the bank really get paid? Update to follow.
I got a call from 800-824-9392 however when you call back they can not take your call. odd
I have been bombarded with phone calls from NCO. Number shows 800-709-8625. The name she gives to call back is Nichole Irvin. I do not owe any bad debts. Besides that my credit score is very high. Besides that my wife has had 16 surgerys and is now recoperating from the latest one. I am 77 and my wife is 76. I don’t need these calls. Does anybody think I can be added to the list of the many lawsuits against these people. Think I will ask my lawyer. I have a lawyer that just LOVES to go after compaines like this. May the best man, (or company), win.
Have been getting calls from NCO Financial off and on since Feb. 28. They always leave a message, to call back to phone # 888-871-8464. The first time they called from 800-448-9570. From Feb. 28 until March 7 — just over a week — there were no more calls. Then on March 7 they called with the 888-871-8464 number showing in the caller ID, as it has on each additional call. Since then, they have called on March 13, March 15, and again today, March 16. Each time they leave a message to call “Dan Radechak,” though the voice and accent differ, and today it was a female who told us to call Dan back. They give some sort of ID number to use when calling back.
I am not in the habit of making telephone calls to people who make unsolicited calls to me. Sounds like a scam, as we do not have any debt we are aware of, and all our credit cards are paid up. So, let them send us some first-class mail detailing their business with us, and giving us an account number and an address to which we can correspond.
They have been calling me up to six times a day for months, sometimes three times within 10 minutes. I usually let it go to voice mail. Sometimes they leave a message, sometimes they don’t. A couple times I actually answered my phone, and IT WAS STILL A RECORDING telling me to call them. I won’t call anyone back who has a recording when I answer the phone live!!
NCO just started calling again! Don’t know why this time but I have a feeling that they are attempting to collect on a fraudulent transaction. I sent them all my documentation last summer including the police report and not it has begun..they are calling me from 1-866-853-4965. Called back and this person’s mailbox if full, go figure? Then transferred to another agent but was on hold for a while then hung up. Also, I have and address in Wilmington DE 19820 PO BOX 15372.
Calling sons phone, from 888-853-6950, wouldn’t say who they were or reason for call, extemely rude and evassive
Received 2 calls this week from the following number (800-786-9330), claiming to be from NCO Financial Systems, Inc. and basically indicating their intent on collecting a debt. Just like the others mentioned on previous comments. If no one can stop these folks even after submitting a cease/desist letter, why even go through the drill? I’m located in Ohio and if NCO Financial is not even being supported by the Pennsylvania lawmakers, what makes you think it can be taken care of in Ohio? I believe we’re all looking for a sure fire fix to these harrassment calls. You also mentioned that you could receive $1000 per harrassment. Did anyone get any compensation regarding their harrassment calls? Sure would like to hear from others out there concerning this situation.
I just started receiving calls from NCO during the last week. They’ve called about three times so far. The number is 877-273-3495. It goes “This is an attempt to collect a debt . . .” then tells me to call someone at some number, then repeats that they are attempting to collect, and hangs up. I never had time (or inclination) to catch the name and/or number, but having just gone through bankruptcy I know that any alleged debt must be bogus. I’ve been through my financial history with a fine tooth comb over the last two years, and any debt has been discharged. Still, I realize that I can’t just ignore this even though the last thing I want to do is get sucked into another money debacle.
got a call from NCO Financial Systems Inc at (614) 717-4395. Love t hear any others who got called from this number. Also any further advice would be great. Thanks
I am receiving calls at my place of work but they never leave a message, its just silence and then hang up.
Got call from NCO 866-853-4965…tired of getting calls..
