Be sure to go and leave a comment at NCO Financial Systems at CallFerret Phone Number Lookup so that all of the new NCO phone numbers are available to people as soon as possible.

In case you are getting calls from the wonderful people at NCO Financial Systems. You should read some messages people have posted about this company. Apart from having to pay $1.5 million to settle Federal Trade Commission charges that it violated the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), there are also many many claims of state and federal violations of legislation like the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) and the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA).

The company purchases old debt from people like your cellphone provider, hospitals and the government for pennies on the dollar and then tries to collect it. You may have even already paid the bill, like I had, but that is really a minor irrelevant point. The reality is, much if not most of this debt is so old noone has any obligation to repay any of it, least of all not to NCO. Many people have been harassed for debt belonging to neighbors, relatives, old residents of the same address, and co-workers. Don’t pay NCO a penny.

If you receive letters or phone calls from NCO or phone numbers like
800-709-8625 or 888-804-3488 or 877-803-8009 or 800-541-2742 or 888-688-7929 or 800-445-4918 or 866-569-8956 or 800-218-1175 or 800-448-9576 or 800-684-8429 or 866-429-3592 or 800-976-8307 or 877-871-6484 or 800-735-6588 or 800-220-1942 or 877-778-1799 or 800-227-4000 or 800-807-7809 or 866-626-9112 or 866-425-8131 or 800-967-4100 or 877-252-4534 or 877-202-9074 or 888-691-8955 or 888-259-3021 or 800-437-7403 or
800-383-4761 or 866-360-9791 you should read this page about the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. If NCO does anything wrong with you, you could be entitled to $1000 per infraction and they may have to pay your lawyer and possibly even your debt.

To halt their “contact”, send NCO a certified, return-receipt cease and desist letter (they throw away all faxes and non-certified letters). A sample letter might read (though, you must seek real legal advice, which I’m not):

This is to advise you that pursuant to the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (“FDCPA”) 15 USC 1692c(c), you are hereby notified to immediately terminate any contact with me, or any members of my family or household, regarding any matter concerning the collection of a debt you allege is owed to your company or to your principal/customer/client. This notice shall include, but is not limited to written correspondence, as well as telephonic communication. This letter also verifies that I live at the address above, therefore, any further locator attempts would be a violation of the FDCPA.

Their address is:
NCO Financial Systems, Inc.
507 Prudential Rd
Horsham, PA 19044-2308

Is NCO calling you? Do you have a new NCO phone number or information? Please leave a comment and share it with the rest of us. Thanks!

NCO may or may not report your debt dispute with them on your credit report. It is important to make sure that if NCO puts anything on your credit report, all of the information is accurate, such as date of debt, last activity on account and the correct amount. That information is not always placed on all three major reports and your valid creditors usually only check one of these sources, so make sure you check all three (TransUnion, Equifax and Experian) for correct information. You should also check your credit score at these agencies to see the impact of your debt history on your credit-worthiness. Click to obtain a copy of your 3-in-1 Credit Report.

If NCO does not leave you alone, Lexington Law is an affordable legal tool to get them to stop calling and writing you. They are also very effective at deleting the negative information off of your credit reports.

For help fixing your credit report, you can reach Lexington Law at 877-699-5735.

Oh, and Miss Hill, thanks for calling ;)

Important! File a complaint with the Pennsylvania Attorney General – easy online form (NCO is a PA company and PA is investigating NCO)

P.S. The Pennsylvania Attorney General recently finished a big case against them, though the complaints continue.

They call me from 866-287-2543. The debt they have is for the person who used to have my Bellsouth phone number. I got my number 4 years ago. For a while I got numbers for an Ashley Johnson. I Googled my new phone # and found her name and another address in my Metro city area. A couple years ago, Bank of America started calling and leaving messages for her regarding a “legal” matter. I called the back and explained that I had no idea who or where she is and Bellsouth gave me her old number. I asked them to remove my # from their records. I got no calls for a long time until this year. A couple times I got a message asking for her. I left a voice answering machine message that there is no Ashley Johnson at this phone # and to take my # off their records. The calls stoped for 3 or 4 months. They’ve started again. They never leave a message.

I received a call today from them. The number was 1-800-432-3988.

I called back after reading your information here (I was immediately sceptical as I have no outstanding debt, so I did a little searching on NCO) and was placed on hold by an automatic answering service. I never got connected to a live person.

I figure you guys would like to know this: Ask your phone provider to block any number that will not display a proper first and last initial.

I get my phone service through Vonage and one of the features is the ability to block any callers that won’t display a name.

Works wonders for this type of harrassment :)

haha you MUST be from NCO. You think people bitching about them do it just for kicks? Are you into S&M? You gotta admit, you’re a rare bird here. As I mentioned, if you have bills, then you gotta put up with them. Why would anyone that doesn’t have bad credit, or have to make the payments you’re so happy to make put up with their abuse? Please post your phone number so those of us that don’t want them to call us can forward all the calls from them to you since you enjoy their crap so much.

P.S.S.!
I recently learned that when calling toll free numbers YOUR NUMBER WILL APPEAR ON THEIR CALLER ID! Be aware of that! That is why, for instance, to activate credit cards you must call from your home. Learn something every day!

P.S.
My credit is excellent and clean. I have no accounts in collections, so NCO had no reason to contact me, and continued to do so even though it was made clear to them that I was not the person they were trying to contact.
If you do have credit problems, and owe money and are in collections, then in my opinion, you are in a position where aholes like NCO can and will contact and hassle you. Unfortunately, you may have to take care of those debts in order to avoid further contact with NCO.
For those of us in the clear, don’t let NCO get away with this abuse and CONTACT The Attorney General of Pennsylvania if you want help!

This is an update that will help many of you. I contacted the Attorney General via this website: http://www.attorneygeneral.gov/theoffice.aspx?id=71#
Within a few days I got a letter from them stating that they were going to look into my allegation that NCO was calling me nonstop and being very abusive, even though I was NOT the person they were trying to get a hold of. A couple of weeks later, I just received a letter from The Attorney General stating that they have contacted NCO and that they have resolved the problem. With that letter, they attached a letter from NCO to the Attorney General, responding to my claim and The Attorney General’s investigation that they have taken me off their database, that they will no longer make contact me, but they do repudiate that they were abusive at any time. I would advice anyone who has the misfortune of being contacted by these idiots at NCO, to record every conversation you have with them. It is against the law in some states to do so without their knowledge, so MAKE SURE you notify them at the beginning of their grilling so they know you will have the evidence when you report them, if you decide to do so. Maybe this way these aholes will finally learn and stop abusing people.
Hats off to The Attorney General of Pennsylvania!

Add this number… it showed up on Caller ID, with “unavailable” for name: (223) 051-6100.

This is the first number to show up; then as soon as the call starts to go to voice mail, whoever’s on the other end calls *again* but the listing on Caller ID is “unavailable” with no phone number listed. This morning, I had 4 back-to-back calls, and this happened yesterday, as well.

Whoever had this phone number before us is probably who NCO is looking for, but I don’t feel inclined to have to argue with them on the phone or wait on hold for something that has *nothing to do with me*.

I don’t see how ringing my phone off the hook with back-to-back calls would ever be considered good business practices.

Have been getting automated calls for the past 3 months, have never called back as we owe no one. The message is not addressed to a specific person, just states they are a debt collection company and please call a Mr. Capps at 866-626-1910 and then it gives an ID number. We (my husband and I) did check our credit report and nothing unusual on it as yet.

How does what they do differ from
your common mugging?

I’ve been getting calls for 3 weeks
from these people – and they’ve even
resorted to calling my relatives!

I have NEVER incurred any sort of debt
they are claiming, but they are harassing me for money.

This is a mugging, pure and simple.
They’ve even gotten a law office involved, but so am I now. They are
rude and, frankly, disturbed.

They do not care about the validity
of whether these debts are real or not.
Period.

I have been divorced from my ex for over 15 years. They are calling both myself AND my mother looking for said ex. They were told a year ago to remove all contact information for me and my family.

Now, again, they are calling looking for this idiot. I am not responsible for this debt, and they readily admit that, but still they continue to call.

Anyone know the name of a good attorney so I can sue them for harassment?

***READ THIS IF 1-866-287-2543 HAS EVER CALLED YOU OR IF THEY STILL CALL YOU***

This number always calls my phone and hangs up or there is noone there. Today I got fed up and did some research. I found out that NCO Financial is a junk collection agency that buys expired and terminated information from other agencys even if you never heard of them or owed any money.

I found the contact page on there site, it has all of there head office numbers on it. I live in canada so I called the canadian office and pretty much told them to stop or I would call the police and they complied and have not called me back since. I told her that I would post all the numbers and she said that it was illegal and I would be charged. Obviously this is not against any law so here it is…

http://www.ncogroup.com/contact/feedback

Call them and ask to a manager or supervisor. The secratery will probably transfer you to some bullshit server. Hang up and call back and demand a person not a machine.

This really works I have done it and they removed my phone number.

Later Guys, Good Luck

I find it funny how NCO figures they can take their time to pay me but can’t WAIT to call and send letters to my mom about some Columbia house debt that she ALREADY PAID. I was supposed to get paid more than a week ago and now I’m starting to REALLY get angry with them especially when they call EVERYDAY anywhere from 3-6 times ussually but one day they called us 10 times when they called 5 times within half an hour!

BTW for the people who got names from the people they actually had the patience to talk to from NCO, the name they gave you was almost definatley fake because almost everybody I knew who worked in NCO’s collections dept. used an alias because of how pissed off they make people NCO recomends you have an alias so your identity is not known to who you called. Lucky me didn’t make calls I just took them.

My parents keep getting the same kind of calls from them but the number comes up “unavailable” and when you answer it says something about waiting for a rep to talk to you, we always hang up when they call. I worked for them a couple of weeks and since I quit I haven’t seen my last paycheck… they also sent me a letter in the mail of the day THEY say I last worked there, well that day is wrong and when I called them to find out why the letter said the wrong date the girl said she was going to check what her records said, well her records where even more wrong, I quit August 3rd, the letter said August 2nd, and she said July 27th?!?!?!?!?! and then she told me to double check I would have to call back AGAIN and talk to another person to find out why I’m not getting paid. I wish I never worked for a company so concerned about ripping people off. by the way the girl I spoke to was VERY rude because she was yelling at my mom saying there is NO way that NCO would hire me because I am only 17.

I have also been receiving calls from NCO at all hours of the day, but, since I googled the number, and found out who this is, I always hang up. My number is on the do not call list. Their new tactic goes something like this-They call. I pick up the phone. They say something like “Hold the line, this is not a sales solicitation”. Of course, I already know what’s going on. So I just hang up. Today, I contacted my attorney about sending a Cease and Desist letter. And if she doesn’t do it, I’ll send it myself. And I don’t have an answering machine or caller ID on purpose. I’m out to get them now, and I’ll leave no stone unturned until I do. I’m about to record their phone calls, file a complaint with the PA Attorney General, send a letter, and then sue the hell out of them. I have never backed down from a fight, and I’m not about to now…

Had my first contact with NCO today.

An unidentified woman was very rude and even hostile towards my mother when she answered the phone. I called them back when I got to the phone. A woman named Debra (or so I was told from a later representative named Nigel) was very hostile, aggressive, rude and unreasonable with me. I WAS HUNG UP ON BY HER. I called back, asked for a different agent, she was again very hostile and rude. After yelling at me she transferred me to Nigel. Nigel was the polar opposite of this Debra woman, calm and collected.

I am seeking legal counsel in this matter. The amount totals $97.00 (CDN, I believe) for an outstanding public transit infraction from roughly 3 years ago.

I don’t know if anyone can relate to this, but as stupid anecdote, here goes;

My mother and I share a trait. When we are TRULY upset by something (which isn’t often) we get acute pains in our stomachs. My mother calls it “getting a knot in your stomach”. I suppose it’s familiar to the butterflies feeling, but this hurts. Bad. Anyway, to illustrate my point clearly, I hadn’t gotten a “knot” in my stomach since I was in high school. This Debra woman put a “knot” in my mothers stomach 3 hours before she put one in mine.

Again, this is my first contact with these people. After a short Google search, it’s become obvious to me that these people are bullies that use intimidation tactics to get what they want, quite often illegally.

Well, thanks to all you people who are brave enough to step forward before me, I will be recording conversations from here on in with them, and I will be taking very slow deliberate steps to have this dealt with quickly, without having my legal rights violated.

FYI: I also live in Canada, and the number that was left for me to call back is

800-555-5493

Again, the representatives I dealt with identified themselves as

Debra (VERY RUDE/AGGRESSIVE/BULLY)

Nigel (calm, non-confrontational)

I personally felt as though it was handled in the classic “good cop, bad cop” manner, just with the bad part first.

Write a letter to NCO telling them to cease and desist calling you. Get it notarized and mail it to them with the message that you will sue them if they dont stop. Then if they continue to call you document each call and gether evidence and then you can get a good amount of money in court for them not stopping the calls and you will have the money to pay the bills. Then pussys like Milo Johnson wont call you.

Another call came four hours later from “Tom” (Wng, ext. 7032. Both callers had heavy accents) claiming to be calling about my Capitol One Mastercard account, of which I have neither. He probed for my real information and was vague about whether they might eventually remove my phone number from their system.

Recently received a letter from NCO stating that they had decided to close the account … I guess the Attorney General complaint and FDCPA lawsuit I filed made them think twice before trying to collect a debt I didn’t owe.

Now they need to cough up some cash and attorney’s fees for collector misconduct under the FDCPA!

I got a new phone number in April 2007 and since then have been pestered on a regular basis by NCO trying to find the previous owner. They will call in the early hours of Saturday and Sunday morning, late at night, always asking for the same person. I have contacted them each time saying that I do not know the person they are looking for and they assure me, each time, that they have removed the number… until the next time they call.

May I recommend that everyone call NCO’s phone numbers listed on their website
http://www.ncogroup.com/contact/feedback
and ask to speak to someone about “harassing phone calls”. They transfer the call to another number very quickly but no one will answer. keep doing that or better yet, Call Brian H. Callahan; Michael J. Barrist; John R. Schwab by calling 1-800-220-2274 and dial 9 for the company directory. Here you can type the appropriate numbers for the last name of who ever you wish to talk with. If they don’t answer, feel free to leave them a voice mail! They would do the same for you afterall.

“This is not the droid you’re looking for…”

I got two calls in two days from these guys. Eventually I got through to them. They were calling my new cell phone number (even my family doesn’t know what it is yet!)…but that’s the number they had on file for one of their “clients”.

I told them that wasn’t me, to remove this number from their system, and not to call me again.

The operator I spoke to was very courteous and apologetic. It sounded as if this happens a lot.

We’ll see if this really does help. If they call again, I now have a basis to start collecting money from THEM, right? :)

Oh my gawd, they called my cell too. When I asked who it was they lady said it was a personal matter, is this Stephney. When I told her this was a personal cell phone she said ok is this Stephney. My thing is, I have sent you cease and desist under the name of NCO Group now you want to say you are Asset Care. If you can’t tell me who you are I don’t have to tell you who I am.

When I contacted the creditor and settled the account with the creditor over 3 years ago after a divorce settlement, I know I don’t owe NCO and ain’t giving them the time of day. As long as I have my letter from the creditor and SOL has run, they can call til hell freezes over.

New number 800-394-3194. They leave a VERY abrupt message to call this number with someone named Kelly who would love to talk to me. Then automated message gives you a reference number. The problem is this is my work number and they do not leave a name of the person they are trying to reach. This could be for someone who had the phone number before. I do have some outstanding debt, but nothing delinquent or old, and I do pay on time each month.
I’m hesitant about calling.

They’re using 800-729-4404. Recorded message asking for call back on “personal business matter”, gives identification number.

In this case, relates to a recent UPMC bill that the state of PA was slow to play – but did pay, more recently.

I suppose they will now call frequently until hell freezes over, the Commonwealth of PA shuts them down, or the Commonwealth of PA issues an injunction against UPMC to make them apply due diligence before turning bills over to such people.

This is what happens when you let the Republicans yank the bankruptcy and credit laws around to service their core constituents – people such as NCO Financial.

Mr. Mead has been called me 3 times leaving a message. I called them back, told them the person they were looking for did not live here. They said they would take our number off their list. Tonight they called, asked for my wife (with her maiden name), when I said she wasn’t here they hung up. As soon as that happened I realized who it was.
I was bored so I thought I’d play phone tag. (Incidentally, the number 800-275-8105 will almost immediately take you to a live person.) I called this number 3 times to get 3 different people to hear me tell them to stop.
The last guy got this little speech from me: “Stop calling this number, the person you are looking for isn’t here. Also, if you are not familiar with the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act you may wish to refresh your memory on it. Please confirm that your address is blah-blah-blah Horsham, PA correct?”
Well this guy was utterly speechless and kind of murmured “Yes it is.”
I said, “Thankyou, you will be receiving a certified letter from me requesting you cease and desist your calls. Thankyou very much.” I guess I’ll wait before sending the letter to see if that works. Thanks for the website and information.

I’ve been getting calls from a “Ms. Nicholson” from NCO for the past few weeks now at my office number. I also never pick up, and the message is always the same. The calls always come from the 866-425-8131 number listed above.

I went ahead and purchased a credit report from TransUnion for $7.95 and my score is WELL above average, with no delinquent entries.

I’m wondering if this is somehow connected with some other weird phone calls I’ve received at my office number? There have been several calls from different people (I remember one was “Kathy”) saying they need my input on something and will I call them back at this toll-free number (I can’t remember the number so I can’t check it with the list above). NCO is never mentioned, but with the format of the call (recording, toll-free number, weird hours) I’m just wondering if it’s all connected somehow?

I don’t return them because for one they don’t ask for anyone in particular. they just state that they are NCO Financial services and are attempting to collect a debt. If it’s truly legal I would expect a certified letter and full documentation of the debt. in question. I finally decided to do some research and low and behold if this isn’t a scam. Don’t fall for it, but DO check your credit reports to make sure nothing funny is happening.

I was a week late with a hospital bill and they turned my butt over to NCO Financial. This after nearly two years of steady payments but that’s besides the point. I received two bills from NCO for different amounts. I assumed that the hospital had received my payment and that the lesser bill was what was due to NCO, so I paid it right away. Turns out I also owed them for the lesser bill. What the heck? Why not just combine them? Anyway, someone from NCO called about this and I told her I’d be happy to pay but I’d need them to send me a new bill with the correct amount. She said that wouldn’t be a problem but I needed to pay quickly or it could damage my credit rating. I told her I certainly wouldn’t want that and would send a check immediately upon the bill’s arrival. Ten days go by and nothing so I called and got a different person. I told her my situation and asked again for my bill. She verified my address and told me she’d get it out in today’s mail and I’d see it in 3-4 business days. 3-4 business days later I call them back, talk to yet another person (by now I’m writing down names, this one was Cathy), told her my deal about not getting a bill and being worried about damage to my credit rating, so she says exactly the same thing as the last person I spoke to. I wait some more, no bill. Finally I call again and say to Frieda (or whoever she was) “why not just give me your address, the account number and the amount that I owe you and I’ll just send a hand-written letter with payment?” She says that would be fine. So, payment sent, check was cashed, that’s that. Oh, my credit rating took a 38 point hit. Thanks NCO, jackasses.

Received a computer generated phone call asking me to hold if I was who I am. Then got a real human voice with a heavy accent and that telephone delay of an over-seas call.
NCO woman stated I owned money on a emergency room visit. In which I replied, I haven’t been to any emergency rooms, and to send me an itemized copy of the bill. She said she would do so. Next day they call again except they do not identify what the bill is for and I AGAIN request an itemized statement of bill.
For the last 4 days I have been a computer generated call in which I do not answer. Today I get mail from NCO – letter of “SETTLEMENT OFFER”, telling me I owe $60.00 but If I settle the acct if I make a lump sum payment of $45.00-an offer which can expire w/out notice.
Now that was the last red flag I needed to know that some scam is taking place. Which leads me to here-THANK YOU!!
I have not been to an emergency room in the last 13 yrs!! And my insurance covered it.
Time to send NCO that certified letter.
What a bunch of morons!

I got a call that went straight to voicemail today that came from this company. Scared me shitless… voice was crazy low and super shady. The number was 866-701-1275. What’s funny is that I just checked my report a few weeks ago because my boyfriend and I are moving into a new apartment. No debts or anything, I just wanted to see my standing. I looked it up online because it sounded so shady and have not read one positive thing about these people. I’m not calling them back, so they can roll their fraudulent accusations into a tight wad and shove it up their assholes sideways. If this bs screws up my moving situation, I’m going to be royally pissed.

BEFORE I BEGIN NOTE THAT I AM NOT A DEADBEAT AND I PAY MY BILLS, AND THIS WAS PROVEN AT THE END THAT I WAS RIGHT! Let’s begin. NCO is really a piece of work. I got a call Friday from a private number telling me to about some debt and debt collection and to call 1-800-707-2637. But I was out and had no pen to write the number down. Knowing that my numerous medical bills were paid, save one huge one that is almost paid in full(but we have arragements on that one) I didn’t think much of it and just asked my wife to be sure. She said “No, we’ve paid everything.” Then last night they call again, they were really aggresive and rude. They told me I owed almost $500 from about a year ago. I told her there was no way and that was wrong. She said “no it’s not!” I said that I would have to check it out. And she said okay, but that if I didn’t pay in full over the phone and only over the phone by credit card they would “ruin my credit”. I asked what this companies name was and she would not tell me. She said that if I paid she would send me a receipt. So at this point I’m thinking this is a scam. She said she could not send me anything in the mail or fax me anything showing what the supposed charges were. I couldn’t even get her to tell me who has turned it in to collections. But just some vague reference to some physician(no name given). Looking at the date I could tell the hospital at least so was planning to check it out later. I got my mother to call(I was at her house at the time of the assault(haha)) to see what they thought. After verifing that they were allowed to talk to my mother about “my account” she got the same runaround. At this point we were ready to call the authorities. Later I tell my wife about it and get her to call. She tells them what I’ve been told and said that doesn’t sound right. She asked them why we haven’t gotten anything in the mail from them. And they say it was mailed out on Sat. I got my first call about this on Fri before they even mailed the bill out and go another call about it on Tues before it even had time to arrive. She keeps questioning them. Then they change their tune and say she can make a payment a different way. But wouldn’t give her the address at first, then they finally gave her the name of the company a fake one, NCL! So I’m still thinking that this is a scam because this collecion agency doesn’t exist. Then I checked online looking for something about a scam with this all the came up was NCO-NCl. I thought that was just misheard and asked my wife if she was sure and she said “yes NCL not NCO!” then I checked online and looks like they do that on purpose. At this point I’m so confused and I’m facing marks on my credit. They just kept telling me that my insurance had “taken back their payment” that they made over a year ago and that I now owe that amount. That sounded crazy to me. I went home and poured over my many medical bills and finally found a letter where my wife had sent them $50 at the end of May, not really knowing what it was and was planning on disputing/questioning the insurance company. So I called them today and they told me that it had been paid and I did not owe anything! They called the billing company for that doctor and made them write a letter to NCO telling them to stop and that nothing is owed. I was told that nothing should be turned into the credit bureau and if it has that it will be off in 30 days. I will have to follow up with that to make sure. In short, I didn’t owe anythign like I said. I’m sure they get people that just say that. But the level of disrespect I was treated with was ridiculus. I was told I could not check with the company that sent this to collections to see what the charges were and all sorts of things. My problem is not with them trying to collect a debt(which didn’t exist). But my problem is with them lying and saying that I HAD to make a full payment by phone, especially when they wouldn’t tell me who they were or send me anything in writing(I’m not counting on that bill showing up either). My other problem is with them lying about their name. I know they’ll just say they said NCO, but this many people can’t all erroneously think they said NCL. This all made it look like it was a scam, and then do they wonder why people don’t want to pay them? Very bad business practices. I will be writing a letter to the Hospital to inform them of who they are doing business with, as well as a letter to the insurance company, the better business buereau, the FTC and whoever else I can think to write to. This is a very shady and unethical company.

SOL for North Carolina is as follows: 3 years on an open agreement (credit cards), Written contracts and oral agreements are 3 years as well. Promissory notes are 5 years. This time frame is based on the last activity posted to a credit report, generally when the account is written off. Please note that SoL varies by state.

Not only have I now emailed my bank to have them deal with it on their end, but I am also contacting both the police and filing charges. Never have I given anyone permission to process an electronic check through my account, yet my bank’s website shows me check NCO submitted, signed “NCO as authorized signatory for .”

I’ll also be contacting NCO and direct them to this site and show them the public comments Mr. Milo Johnson has made after stating for the world to see that he is one of their fine employees.

I pay all bills off monthly and have for at least the last 20 years. I called the # 866-816-1066 (twice–I gave them none of my info and used *67 when calling so they did not know my number). The persons answering the phone refused to give my any information as to their location and why they would be calling me–they said if I wouldn’t tell them who I was they couldn’t give me any information about who they were and where they were. I filed a complaint on donotcall.gov and will continue to do so. Good info on this site…if they continue to call, I will follow advice as well as file complaints in PA and my home state.

You are sorely mistaken if you thnk inaccurate information is never on a person’s credit report. I could not begin to tell you how many items have been removed from my husband’s credit report due to his ex-wife. Even now, we find 4 more things on his report that are not his, but indeed hers. And in case you are wondering, these have happened since we have been married and we have been married for several years. I have had to fax copies of his divorce decree to many agencies to prove he is not married to her and thus not responsible for her bills. Not to mention the collection of notices I have recieved for her in her name at MY p.o. box which I have had for 15 years.

I’ve been wondering who this was on my CallerID several times a day. They never leave a message, and I rarely pick up.

Two days ago, I answered the phone out of curiosity. They seem to be looking for my ex-wife’s relatives. I recall they were calling about them about a year ago as well. We divorced over 2 years ago but my wife has an unlisted number, so they hassle me, even though I have told them she’s not here anymore. Weird.

The calls are still coming. When I pick up, there’s no one on the other line, almost as if it’s an automated system designed to harass. Since they were so persistent I thought I’d call the number back to see what it was about. You can’t leave a message on their inbox and there’s no way I’m going to divulge any of my own personal information to them.

Next steps will be to complain to the telephone company, I guess.

BTW the number they’re calling me from is 866-287-2543.

I want to alert everyone about a new message ploy recently started by these trolls. Since I stopped answering their calls a few months ago, the new ploy is to leave a message on the machine that states, “This message is for so-and-so and by listening to this message you are agreeing that you ARE indeed so-and-so…” In what court of law would a judge agree that by just listening to an annoucement you are admitting to an identity? Don’t call them, don’t pay them and sue them until they bleed.

Hmm, very interesting. They call here constantly…today, had to be at least times and it’s barely after Noon where I am. The first and only time I answered this, and actually spoke to someone, they asked for my husband and did tell me that they were calling on behalf of Captial One. Thing is…my husband has never, ever dealt with Capital One. I have, but he hasn’t and my dealings with them are not past due, let’s put it that way.

So after reading all of this..if we do actually communicate with them at any time you can be sure that I will be telling them just what I think of this scam they are running. I just don’t answer their calls but I didn’t realize that they were actually scamming people. I wondered, there have been some very hokey incedents with these guys…I will be advising my husband to cease all contact/dealings with them. Things are tight enough that we don’t need to be paying money to people that are not on the up and up. Better to be putting it towards bills that are legit. Thanks to all who posted info here, it was very enlightening!

What amazes me in all of this is the vulgar, obscene and generally low -level of education exhibited in Milo’s correspondence.
Even some of our foreigners on this list who don’t completely master English stay correct and certainly don’t have this “soldier’s level” tone.
Milo, you would be 100% more credible if you improve your vocabulary and express yourself like a human being and not an animal. Try speaking like an educated man and maybe your message will be more effective.

Milo is no doubt confused and or misguided. Those who work in this industry are nothing more than an employee of a bottom feeding organization which ultimately makes them a member of the same bottom feeding pond scum who feeds on people who have fallen on hard times. If you are of the thought that all those who seek credit and default have committed fraud you are also a moron. There are those who do in fact do that however those are the ones who these nimrods are unable to ever contact since their sole purpose was fraud. I was one of the unfortunate ones whose job went to a third world country however life has changed and I have been able to pay the credit cards off I did default on. If during that time a collector had approached me with some sense of humanity I would have more than likely been willing to work with that person. In every case the person who called was an asshole. Now that these accounts are paid off, these same inbreeds continue to call to collect a debt that has been satisfied. That, by even an idiot’s definition is fraud. If there truly is a God then perhaps all of these pathetic little people will end up in the same bottomless pond with their scum sucking relatives.

Milo has some issues about deadbeats. First of all little man, you talk like your penis is 22 inches long or something. Loosen up dude. Take that bug outta your butt. Life is way too short to get wrapped up in someone else’s business. You are making some very unfair generalizations about people. Why would you want to waste your breath writing a novella about why deadbeats bother you? By the way, you got it all wrong with Eric B. If you are so well off, why don’t you come up with a plan for improving the nasty world of collections? There are all kinds of situations, like identity theft, that put good standing people in precarious positions that they don’t or didn’t have control over. Ever think of that smarty pants?

To Milo:

Getting back to the original point, I’m sure some people are deadbeats, but the majority of NCO victims don’t deserve the kind of harassment they’re given. Many people have attempted to set up a payment plan with them, only to have NCO respond with the utmost rudeness and scream illegal threats at them–insofar as to impersonate law enforcement and threaten to make a warrant for the person’s arrest if they don’t pony up the money immediately. NCO has also created false debt and attempted to collect debt beyond its Statute of Limitations, both of which are also illegal. Add to the fact that they change phone numbers faster than you can blink (as you can see at the top of this page) and that they’ve been taken to court for their conduct and actions, and you can see that the entire agency has a highly-questionable reputation. For most people the debt isn’t in dispute–it’s NCO’s attitude that is. And I can hear your response now: “Their attitude doesn’t matter; if you owe the money, pay it!” And you would be right. But as far as NCO is concerned, their victims should take their debt up with the originator and keep NCO out of the picture as much as possible. Financial indebtedness is no excuse for NCO’s actions and attitudes.

This is in reference to Milo Johnson and his bringing comments about ‘Paula’ up.

Anyone or any company (or business) that tries to fraudulently extort monies from a senior citizen is in violation of federal law. It is a felony.

To those who are having a problem with NCO, report them (again) to the Attorney General of the state of Pennsylvania and also to the Attorney General in Washington DC. Perhaps they’ll face more fines and/or have federal charges brought against them. If they investigated these claims they have accepted for collection FIRST, then their attitude would not be getting them into trouble consistently.

Some of their claims probably are against “deadbeats.” But the odds say that most are probably NOT. Seek counsel, and take them to court.

These really are the moments that make my days just go that much better; fantastic, considering how great my days already are.

Oddly enough, while capable of writing vociferously, Milo appears to not be too terribly strong in the reading comprehension department. The impetus for this post was NCO erroneously pursuing me for a non-debt. The Verizon bill in question was never past due and was simply one of many, many online documented examples of NCO using its revenue generating techniques on accounts with no actual debt (see also the many examples of invalid AOL account collections). Please do pay attention.

Now, it is time to let dear, dear little Milo get oh-so-worked up about something else while I go take a nice stroll on the beach (on the Mediterranean coast, where my lack of ‘hard’ work and ne’er do well activities have so tragicly given me a home to live in.)

P.S. Thanks for all the traffic Milo. I’ll raise a glass to you later at the café.

Verbose, Increasingly Perturbated NCO Employee writes:

Yeah, that’s the whine of the true deadbeat, all right. Here’s a hint. Don’t make commitments you can’t keep. You lied to your creditors by signing a contract that assured them you were an honest person who would pay them, no matter what inconveniences you encountered along the way. That’s what all contracts implicitly say. You are dishonest by virtue of that volitional action on your part. I’ve worked hard all my life to pay my bills, and I’m probably a lot older than you and have worked harder and longer. I’ve been behind, and I paid up and didn’t gripe about it because I knew that I had made my own decisions and I had to live with their consequences. Maybe if you got off your ass and spent some time actually working instead of bitching on a blog about how hard your pathetic little life is, you wouldn’t be in the situation you are in. And make no mistake, the situation is of your own creation and you have nobody to blame but yourself. NCO didn’t run up the bills for you, you did. If you had even the smallest portion of integrity, you would be out taking care of your obligations, but instead, you choose to pretend that you are the wounded party because I hurt your little feelings. Man up, little boy. You should be ashamed of yourself. The world doesn’t owe you a free ride any more than it did to me. I don’t give a shit about your situation any more than anybody has ever given a shit about mine. The contracts you signed didn’t say “this doesn’t need to be paid if it’s inconvenient for you” anywhere, and you signed them anyway because you wanted the money, goods, or services. Now you seem to think you have some right to these things without the need for you to carry out your part of the agreement. You and your deadbeat ilk are festering sores on the economic health of the United States, and you deserve every bit of scorn that comes your way. And by the way, you need to remove that “NCO employee” bullshit from my post, as I said previously, I do not work in collections for anyone.

I got laid off back in mid-2003, got on my credit card and they sent me to a collection agency even though I was trying to work things out. I had the collection agency drafting money out of my checking account to pay off the card. The last draft I had was in November 2003 for $300.00, the following month NCO bought my account from them wihtout notification. I don’t know why considering I was letting them draft out my account, closed the credit card account down & agreed to a pay off amount. Well, NCO starts harrassing me and will not acknowledge my last 3 payments drafted out of my account. I told them I refuse to pay anything because I can prove the money came out of my account with bank statemnts. Oh, they added on all these fees which could not be fully explained and would not send me a copy of anything to show what the fees were for. The guy tells me he does not want to hear it and can I borrow money from someone I know to pay off the account. WTF!!! Then he threatens to take me to court… I told him “Ok, come find me for court!” Hung up on him, that was in December 2003. I don’t hear anything for nearly 4 years after that call and now they have started calling me again. Sending letters, etc… Now they are calling my job with recorded messages. I’ve had the same #’s for 4 years and they just start back calling. I would think there is a time limit to how long they can call you. I looked it up and NC shows 3-5 years depending on last payment? Don’t know if that is true…

Gee, heres a simple solution to all you people who hate the fact that NCO calls you…..pay your damn bills and they wont call!
Thats just a joke there, sorry. You see, I worked for nco for 8 years in a different state then PA. That was back before they started getting sued and to fat in the head and putting too many rules out there for us agents. The fuckheads in PA would tell us to collect more and more money, and when we did, they would take the payments and accounts from us right at the end of the month and keep us from hitting our monthly goals, which would keep us from getting a bonus check. I was (and still am) an easy going collector and dont like to hate and yell with people. Im so glad I told nco to shove it when I did. (which was at the end of a month and my boss told me late on a saturday that I had to work sunday and she knows I will be there to help hit our goal.) I said screw that! PA will just take the money from me anyway, so Im out of here and fuck you all and walked out! 8 months later they closed the office without any advance notice!! ha ha, just flew in one morning, and walked in and told everyone the shop is closed.
** heres a tip though, when a bill collector calls you, dont be hateful, just talk to them and give them a chance to work with you. Ask if you can settle the debt and offer to make payments. You will find that the calls go alot easier that way, cuz as soon as someone starts getting hateful, I hear too many co workers start to yell and it all goes downhill from there. So give the person a chance to help you, then, if they get nasty with you for no reason, then stand up for yourself. Dont be childish and duck and hide and avoid the call. Trust me, there are many ways to find your cell # work, next door neighbor, mom, boss…dont let it get hateful, just deal with it cuz you know someday you will want something and that will require paying your bill. If I had $1 for every person I had call me over the years who was hateful and cussing me and lied about sending in money or bouncing a check, but who wanted help all the sudden cleaning up their cbr so they could buy a house or close a deal on a loan… I could pay all of you peoples debts off! Funny how hateful people can be when you ask them to pay, then 2 years later they call up wanting help or asking for a settlement. So just deal with it now in a mature calm way and you will find that the collector will be a hell of alot nicer. Afterall, he wants your money, give him or her a chance to be nice and offer a settlement.

You need to file a complaint with the State of Pennsylvania and believe me, it does work, they will stop calling you and life will get back to normall.
Check out my response #76. Since I filed my complaint along with other complaints, all the calls have ceased. I have also begun filing complaints with the BBB and the various states whose respository is located. I’ve had some crap removed from my credit report as a result. Bottom line, if you don’t do anything they will continue to call you but if you do something about it, the calls will stop.
Good luck.

I have been getting calls from these people for months. I don’t know the numbers, so I don’t answer them. The other day, a new number showed up, which I thought was someone else, so I answered it. It was them, claiming that I owe twice the last known amount for a credit card that my ex-husband was ordered to pay in our divorce-or so I thought, I’m really not sure since she didn’t give me any information. Now, after stumbling across your page, I feel I have made a HUGE error! I gave the lady my address to send me something in the mail. I don’t remember if I gave any other information, but I did tell her that my ex-husband was responsible for this account. I told her I wanted some sort of statement. She said that it had been long enough and she didn’t have to send me a statement. I don’t know what the balance is or was on the card, but I do know that it was closed in 2002. Can I send a cease and desist letter to them when it may have been a valid debt at one time? Or can I just ask them to validate it, and if they can’t then what? I haven’t checked my credit report, but I am sure that I will find them there. I am just getting things straight after the divorce and now this…great. Also, I read on one of these postings that charged-off accounts are supposed to be closed…so does that mean they cannot come after you for payment if it has been charged off? (My ex-husband quit paying on the card in August 2005-I do not know what he did pay or what may be still owed, if this is the same card). Someone please advise me on how to pursue this!

A suggestion: call and write letters to the companies that are selling your data to NCO and let them know how much they suck. For example, Mike at May 7 who was getting calls for a fulfilled debt from Hollywood Video – Mike, give your local Hollywood a call, find their corporate address nd write them a note, whatever, just let them know they are corporate scoundrels for selling your data to such a pernicious company.

I’m so glad I found this website. NCO has been a thorn in my side for a while now. I was getting letters from them while in Arknas, moved to Louisiana over 2 years ago with no forwarding address. Somehow they found me. In Aug 2005 I did make an agreement to start paying them a small monthly amount that I let them take automatically from my bank account. The payments were all going to interests tho. When I stopped working, I told them to stop taking money out of my bank and they did. I am now unable to work and filing for disability. I have told them this. I have zero income and I live with a friend. They don’t care. Their response was can I pay $30 a month. What part of zero income do they not understand. Just mailed a cease and desist letter 6/7/07. I no longer answer unknown calls. Sometimes I will pick up the reciever and place it back down immediately to disconnect the annoying call. They start calling early and call til late eneving. I never knew about the Federal Trade or cease & desist letters until a friend mentioned it and I started reading about it online. If they contine to harass me once I getthe return receipt back from the certified letter I will report them. It’d be great to sue them and get money from them for all the stress they have put me under. I have at times been suicidal because of the calls. The calls push my depression over the edge and make me feel crappy about myself.

I then pulled my report from transunion. Transunion gave me the information on accounts open, when they were reported/ or ” updated” and when they will close. NCO was indeed on both reports but i saw that not only does NCO pull a credit report on me ( AND my husband) four times a year but there have been three accounts from 2002 that have been “updated” and now will not close until 2013!!! I was looking into calling my creditors to negotiate but when i saw that there were 4 accounts that belonged to them that have been “updated” or renewed& have accrued fees from the original balance! i decided to look them up, and found this site. Thank God they don’t have my updated information and Thank you everyone for your comments.

I received a recorded message from Jane Cross or Croft, I’m not certain, but one of the above messages has it as Jane Cross with the same call back telephone number of 877-623-6287 that that it was regarding a personal matter. The call came in around 8:00 pm Eastern time.

I also thought it as strange to get a message rather than an actual person if they really wanted to reach me.

So I too googled the number and this website came up first on the google list.

WoW! The stories from all of the messages posted here concerning the NCO (Ja didn’t say who they represented) is so alarming.

I didn’t know what the call was for until I googled it and I too have good credit ratings at all three credit reporting companies.

This could also explain a collection call my daughter is getting on a debt at U-Haul that she doesn’t owe. I wonder if its NCO? I’ll need to find out what the number is that is calling.

Well – since this was my first encounter with that recorded message, from reading all of these messages it appears that my nightmare may just be beginning.

What about a class action suit? There’s some law firms out there that could make a killing if the case is won… of course anyone who signs up for the class action suit, like all of the people who suffered the verbal and psychological abuses from NCO would get a few dollars when distributed – the law firm get the largest share…. but it would be worth not getting a penny if they had to pay out some REALLY REALLY REALLY BIG BUCKS!!!

New #: 800-350-2457

Got a call yesterday on my answering machine from a Chinese man who barely spoke English. After listening to the message 8 times, was able to at least get a phone # and the fact that he was with NCO, but it was after 5 pm (plus I’m in Phoenix, so the time change is not in my favor). No need, first thing this morning, they call again. I ask for the Soc. Security # of the person they are looking for, they give me the last 4 digits, I let them know that isn’t me. (My full name is fairly common). I ask for his name, letting him know I couldnt understand him on my message machine and when he refused to give it, I let him know I would be contacting the BBB about these phone calls. He immediately hung up before I could finish my sentence. I found this website, just wondering if this is over. Seems like they are just “cold calling” anyone with that name, which seems VERY wrong. Not sure where to go from here, not sure if letting them know that isnt MY soc. # is enough or if it will continue. I’m glad I found this site, if I get another call from them, I will definitely move forward with the cease and desist! I hate being harrassed… in my own home! And I know very well that I have no debt!

Well I call this morning to NCO. And here how it went.

me – Hello?
nco – could you hold?
me – yeah
me – i got a letter yesterday.
nco – id number
me – not on letter but have reference number and account nuber
nco – what is the number
nco HOLD (2 min)
nco – you owe 59.75 at Hollywood Ent.
me – what is it for?
nco – late fee, movie rental, etc..
me – be specific.
nco – it was for Scary Movie from 2003
me – i went to Hollywood Ent yesterday and they have nothing on my account. it is clean with no FEE.
nco – hold for a sec (another 2 min)
nco – did you take care of the fine?
me – (remember about scary movie) said i took care of it.
nco – how did you pay? visa, check, cash
me – cash
nco – when did you pay?
me – not sure of the date since it was 4 Years ago. it was in 2003 and it is now 2007.
nco – hold for a sec (another 2 min)
me – hello?
nco – yes
me – what do i need to do?
me – hello (after a min with no feedback)

it went like this for 20 min and finally she said it will be looked at and i will hear from them in 30 days. what was so annoying is that she didn’t know anything and kept putting me on HOLD or i would have to say HELLO a couple of time for her to say something. i would say something and it would be silence from here end and she doesn’t say a word. as for the date it was strange. she wanted to know when i paid for it. how am i suppose to know what date i paid for it in 2003. i doesn’t make sense at all. kept telling her i went to hollywood ent. and they said nothing was on my record. anyway, after that i went to hollywood ent and mention the letter to the supervisor and MY talk with nco. she kept the letter and take care of it. since nothing was on my record of any kind of Fines. she did mention if i did have any fine i wouldn’t be able to check anything out. well hopefully they will take care of it. but i’ll keep you guys posted.

Just got a letter today from NCO Financial Systems, Inc for $59.75. Whats so strange is that they are collecting for Hollywood Entertainment, which i assume is Hollywood Movie Rental (which is everywhere). I stopped by tonight to ask them about this letter and to check my account to see if I owe anything and guess what I owe NOTHING. But the strange part that the letter was sent to my P.O. Box and not the address that Hollywood Movie have on thier record. Not sure how that got the P.O. Box, but i’m calling tomorrow to see whats up. So i’ll post back later about this.

I just started recieving these calls. In the past I was recieving calls from another creditor company. The debt they are trying to collect on is a non issue. They say they are trying to collect from something over 7 years ago that never was considered debt. No calls for 7 years then all of the sudden here they come.

I did some research and you should know you do not have to speak with these people if they have not sent you a letter stating their business within 30 days of first contact. I also spoke with my family attorney and said to just keep ignoring the calls unless there are letters sent to you. If they do not send you a letter they are violating the law and you can be compensated for the trouble they put you through. If you do recieve a letter forward it to an attorney before you go giving your info out.

You should never give information to anyone calling you over the phone unless you know and trust them.

I receive a message from NCL Financial daily asking for Walter Phelps. Never heard of him. The callback number is 1-800-844-5795, case number HMA019.
I have been promised 11 times now that they will correct their records but the calls keep coming. My cell phone has 34 messages from them. How do I sic the dogs on these people? Can’t they do a simple reverse directory search to find the correct number for this Phelps guy?
Very unprofessional people.

I received 3 letters from NCO listing a creditor that I have never had an account with. After 3 phone calls,(they hung up twice) one person (nameless) said they would send me a letter stating that these accounts are in error.
After reading the horror stories on this and other websites, I’m going to take your advice and send them a certified letter. Here are the two phone numbers that I have. Hope this helps someone else. 800-220-2274 and 800-709-8622 (name on this recording is Bill Rube)

I have been getting pre-recorded messages from this place for the past year. They stopped for about 2 months and have started up again. I only found out who they were by googling the 800 number. I have had the same NYC phone number for 20 years AND have never been/am not in debt, but I have received messages from “Miss Nichols” two different “Mr Peters’, an angry male voice informing me that federal law required him to tell me that he was from a collection agency, another male voice from NCO financial and a female voice who has an “important personal message” for someone who has the same last name, but not the same first, as me. I have never received any kind of letter from them, which confirmed my suspicions. I have read on this & other websites that people who called them were hassled for debts they didn’t owe to businesses they had never patronized.
It doesn’t sound like anyone has had much luck contacting them, maybe I will try the Attorney General, this is really a form of harassment.

I get back many months later. That is to tell you that what is recommended = write to the Attorney General Of Pennsylvania, it really works!

I just received a letter from them this morning, “your complaint has been settled”, with a copy of a letter to the Attorney General from the NCO lawyers “Sessions Fishman Nathan” http://www.sessions-law.com.

They list (their version of course) of all our telephone conversations between NCO and myself, point 8 which will interest you all ,
“On January, 2007 NCO received this complaint. NCo immediately marked Mr Dunford’s accounts to prevent further calls from being placed to Mr Dunford regarding these accounts. No further calls have been or will be placed to Mr. Dunford regarding this account”.

I also have the name of one of the collectors = Ronnie Moore, as well as Anthony Curry if this can help any of you.

Good luck to all!

I’m ignorant as to how debt collectors work. I was taken to court by GE Money Bank in 2005, and the settlement was to pay the principal sum, court costs and interest that totaled to $1349.20. I was to send my monthly payments to Zakheim & Associates located in Plantation, FL 33324. To date I have paid $880, however, they recently stopped depositing my checks. So I called Zakheim & Associates and they told me my file was closed and that I needed to call NCO FINANCIAL SYSTEMS. I, of course, called the number they gave me,(888) 899-4778, and talked to a Mrs. Davis. She says I have a balance of $458.33 and sets up 3 months of $55 payments to be withdrawn from my checking account with an extra $5 convenience fee each time. I gave NCO FINANCIAL SYSTEMS permission to automatically withdraw $60 from my checking account for yesterday, June and July! After reading many forums and posts from various websites, I feel like I’ve made a mistake in paying them. Am I allowed to place a “Stop Check Payment” on the next 2 payments? Or am I obligated to pay now that I already paid them? Should I even send them a letter to validate the debt? Can I even fight this???
Any comments and/or suggestions is greatly appreciated.

My spouse is working for GE financial. (?!)
No ss number = no credit card = no debt.
And these stupid people still call my house phone number after I told them about my visa?
They even make fun of my accent.
I am contacting this attorney today. I maybe not allowed to work in USA, but I can still get money I win from a lawsuit!!!

The return phone number that NCO Financial used with me was 877-394-8289.

This is the third contact (and third different number that they have used) and the third time I’ve told them to cease and desist, to no avail.

The NCO attendant said that they were looking for “Debbie Branson or Bronson”.

Amy,

I had a similar experience in that NCO was calling my long establised home phone number. They would not give me any information as to why they were calling except to say that I owed money. They would not even say who they were calling for! I immediately contacted the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s office via the on-line form available on their web site (see above). I received a letter from the PA Attty General telling me they had contacted NCO regarding my complaint, and within 5 weeks, I had a letter from the PA Atty General that included a statement from NCO that they were wrong, and would not contact me again. Do this immediately and start hanging up on the callers from NCO. Let the Atty General’s office handle this problem.

I received a call that when answered was an automated response which had me call 866-849-2443. It was NCO in Antigua and I asked for their location and was told the main office was in Wilmington Delaware.I asked for that phone number and got 866-849-2438. I called and ask for their location and was told PA. I asked for the address and was put on hold forever, I was disconnected after waiting 20 minutes. This matter is in regards to a Doctor Mark Rodgers with Sterling ER Physicians in Arlington, Texas for the amount of $227 and the date of original Debt is June 26, 1996, 11 years ago… Credit reporting agencies by law are not allowed to post anything over 7 years old. Does the FTC regulate these losers or do I have to get an attorney on my own??

I have received a couple calls from NCO from 800-877-4127. The first time I didn’t answer and they left a message stating that they are a collection agency leaving a message concerning a debt for someone (a name I couldn’t understand, but it wasn’t me). I don’t owe any debts, so I disregarded the call. They called me again today. I answered the call intending to tell them they have the wrong number, but there was only a recording telling me to call another number. What the heck? Do they want get information about the debt they need to collect or not? Seems like a scam to me.

I filed bankruptcy back in 2002 and everything was discarged. NCO has now got ahold of some private student loans that were discharged as well. In 2005 the phone calls started. I was instructed by an attorney to send them copies of my bankruptcy papers and a cease and desist letter. The calls stopped.

Now here it is April 2007 and the calls have started again. They actually gave my account number and debt information to our babysitter. Man, how did that make me look. Plus, they got into a screaming match with my wife.

These accounts are not even on my credit report, but still they call. I have now filed a complaint in Pennsylvania, Missouri, and also with the FDCPA. We’ll see what happens this time.

The number I keep getting is: 800-254-0667 ext.2580 (Douglas Coburn)

Good luck everyone.

Thanks for the info!! I just rec’d a message from a mike who, of course, i could not understand his last name, indicated that they have a “file” of mine pending for over a year and that they want to “expedite this”. At the end, he indicates that this is not a sales call and provides me with the (800) 220-1942 number to call them back. Nowhere in his messagde does he idicate that he is calling from nco. Then, i call the number and there is no company name or anything. All the answering machine says is that they are a sorry they could not answer my phone call personally and to leave my name and number and someone will call me back. What?? Who in their right mind will leave their info on an answering machine that does not indicate where or who you are calling. Some people need help and these are some of them!!! Don’t fall for their attempts to obtain your personal info.

Unfortunately my debt is real, after a bad auto accident almost 2yrs ago I’m still trying to get back on my feet physically and financially. NCO has called me continously acting as attorneys and magistrates saying they will find in favor of my creditor if I don’t do what they want. They even somehow captured my cell phone and now when they call my house the caller ID shows my cell number and says “daddy” so my girls answer the phone. Is this not some type of identity theft? I filed a complaint w/ the attorney general….I will let you know what happens….good luck and may the force be with you all!!!!

Another example of how incredulous NCO Financial operates comes from their response to my complaint to the State of Pennsylvania. In their response they state they have only called me once and therefore my complaint has no basis. These people don’t call anyone just once. Maybe they meant they only called me once an hour. Nevertheless, the filing of the complaint has had positive results. NCO realize I am not one to sit by while they violate my rights and the calls have ceased. I take my hat off to whoever posted the web site for filing a complaint and encourage all those who are being bothered by those blood sucking leeches to file a complaint and be done with the calls once and for all.

Do NOT talk with this company. Contact the creditor directly. One resource is the BBB – complaints for all states are handled by the agency in Wash DC: http://www.mybbb.org/codbrep.html?ID=80002360&wlcl=y
BBB requests that consumers contact NCO before filing complaint: 888-495-8352.

I think my story might be stranger than all of yours. I received a call today from phone number 800-967-4100. Since I never answer the phone when I don’t know who’s calling, I let my answering machine pick up the call. An automated message stated that the call was from a woman named Shannon Smith of HSN and it stated that I still had $10 to spend at HSN anytime I wanted and that the offer would expire on April 30th. She also asked that I go to the HSN.com website or call 800-967-4100 if I wanted to be placed on HSN’s do not call list(I am already on the National Do Not Call List). I “googled” the phone number and found this website which staes that the number belongs to a credit collection bureau called NCO Financial Systems. Since I don’t have any outstanding debts and have never received any collection notices, I presume the call to be fraudulent and perhaps misrepresentative of HSN.

I contacted HSN and told them about the call and suggested that they investigate how their name is being used.

I never call back anyone I don’t know and who doesn’t give me a believable reason why they called.

sometime in Jan. I received letter supposedly from a collection agency (NCO) stating that I owed $393.97 from a balance owed to Dress Barn over twelve years ago!!!! I told them they were out of their minds. They informed me that I owed this and that Dress Barn has nothing to do with this matter any longer that it was handed over to them, which they also said they were the third party. I continually got harassing phone calls from these people. I would not give in to them. The very last phone call with these people consisted of them telling me that I had to send them a letter within 30 days to dispute along with a copy of my TRW report. I have to tell you that I almost did it just to get them off my back. It is now April and that was over two months ago and I haven’t heard anything from these people again. Then out of curiosity, I checked out the web page that I am logged onto right now. I cannot believe how many people they have attempted to rip off – it’s absolutely amazing. I kinda had a feeling this was a scam because it’s just so unbelievable that I would have a debt from 12 years ago with no contact from this supposed Dress Barn account. And the real kicker is that the same day I received my first phone call from NCO, I had just opened a Dress Barn account with no problem! Go figure. These people should be stopped!!!

I’m a 71 year old man with a wife who is severely handicapped including being legally blind. In the early seventies I took out several student loans totalling approx. $8,ooo. I became disabled physically and psychologically disabled. Eventually the loans were dischaged. Around 2003 I began to hear from nco (I will not dignify them by capitalizing the name of their “firm”) I was told then that I owed $33,ooo and could I pay it as soon as possible. They were very nasty and threatened to take my social security. After a few years of fighting with them and my blood preassure rising with every phone call they left me alone. I lived in Maine at the time and told them I was in contact with Sen. Susan Collins office. When we moved down to Ct. I began dealing with Sen. Joe Lieberman’s office. Everything has been quiet for a while but now I receive calls on my caller ID and when I ry to call it back it says disconnected. Of course the debt is now $37,000. When I searched 411.com for the number 215-675-1573 lo and behold nco has shown its ugly face again. Years ago I was advocate for a group called Turn-To Us and would like to challenge anyone to join me in a once and for all battle to sink the good ship nco. I;m engaged in a body of work including two dramatiztions and a collection of poetry going on the market. It will help keep my creative juices. I am forming a latebloomers club focusing on older people who thinke that age means everything is over. Anyway folks lets get these Bastards. By the way I’m a christian man and that is as graphic as I will get. In honor of my late Jewish friend Alvin from NY I might say shmuck. I am so grateful for the suggestion about aa certified letter.

You hang up the phone and throw away their mail is what you do Jim. Then you send them a cease and desist letter and if they ignore it you file a complaint with the Office of Attorney General, Bureau of Consumer Protection for the State of Pennsylvania. Believe it or not, I did just that and guess what; NCO has stopped calling and the State sent me a letter advising me that they have initiated an investigation. The alternative is to let these crooks run you up and down the flag pole.
If you really want to slap them in the face and provided you are ready to resolve any debt issues that may exist; you contact the original creditor directly and deal with them. The debt gets resolved, the creditor gets their money and NCO gets crap which is what they deserve.

We’ve been receiving 2-3 automated message/night for the past several weeks. All of this started shortly after we moved here which leads me to believe they are looking for the previous person that had this number. I’ve tried to call them back but all I get is the “please hold” message. After several minutes I’m disconnected. I finally tracked the number down on Google and was surprised to find this link. I’ve already left a complaint with the Penn A/G. We’ll see where things go from here.

I’ve been receiving numerous calls from this company to my cell phone the past few days. Most went unanswered due to work.

Two were answered. One was an automated call and one was a live call. Both for an individual named Winona Lee. Who I am not nor do I know of. The lady that gave the live call was polite. And did not dispute or argue with me when I told her I was not Winona Lee. And stated she would remove my number from their database.

Hopefully it is actually removed and not just a “We won’t call from THIS number again, but be expecting other numbers from us.” type ordeal.

I am going to be keeping a log of the call times and numbers from here on out though. After having read this, I’m going to pay a bit more attention to any unusual calls.
