Be sure to go and leave a comment at NCO Financial Systems at CallFerret Phone Number Lookup so that all of the new NCO phone numbers are available to people as soon as possible.

In case you are getting calls from the wonderful people at NCO Financial Systems. You should read some messages people have posted about this company. Apart from having to pay $1.5 million to settle Federal Trade Commission charges that it violated the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), there are also many many claims of state and federal violations of legislation like the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) and the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA).

The company purchases old debt from people like your cellphone provider, hospitals and the government for pennies on the dollar and then tries to collect it. You may have even already paid the bill, like I had, but that is really a minor irrelevant point. The reality is, much if not most of this debt is so old noone has any obligation to repay any of it, least of all not to NCO. Many people have been harassed for debt belonging to neighbors, relatives, old residents of the same address, and co-workers. Don’t pay NCO a penny.

If you receive letters or phone calls from NCO or phone numbers like
800-709-8625 or 888-804-3488 or 877-803-8009 or 800-541-2742 or 888-688-7929 or 800-445-4918 or 866-569-8956 or 800-218-1175 or 800-448-9576 or 800-684-8429 or 866-429-3592 or 800-976-8307 or 877-871-6484 or 800-735-6588 or 800-220-1942 or 877-778-1799 or 800-227-4000 or 800-807-7809 or 866-626-9112 or 866-425-8131 or 800-967-4100 or 877-252-4534 or 877-202-9074 or 888-691-8955 or 888-259-3021 or 800-437-7403 or
800-383-4761 or 866-360-9791 you should read this page about the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. If NCO does anything wrong with you, you could be entitled to $1000 per infraction and they may have to pay your lawyer and possibly even your debt.

To halt their “contact”, send NCO a certified, return-receipt cease and desist letter (they throw away all faxes and non-certified letters). A sample letter might read (though, you must seek real legal advice, which I’m not):

This is to advise you that pursuant to the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (“FDCPA”) 15 USC 1692c(c), you are hereby notified to immediately terminate any contact with me, or any members of my family or household, regarding any matter concerning the collection of a debt you allege is owed to your company or to your principal/customer/client. This notice shall include, but is not limited to written correspondence, as well as telephonic communication. This letter also verifies that I live at the address above, therefore, any further locator attempts would be a violation of the FDCPA.

Their address is:
NCO Financial Systems, Inc.
507 Prudential Rd
Horsham, PA 19044-2308

Is NCO calling you? Do you have a new NCO phone number or information? Please leave a comment and share it with the rest of us. Thanks!

NCO may or may not report your debt dispute with them on your credit report. It is important to make sure that if NCO puts anything on your credit report, all of the information is accurate, such as date of debt, last activity on account and the correct amount. That information is not always placed on all three major reports and your valid creditors usually only check one of these sources, so make sure you check all three (TransUnion, Equifax and Experian) for correct information. You should also check your credit score at these agencies to see the impact of your debt history on your credit-worthiness. Click to obtain a copy of your 3-in-1 Credit Report.

If NCO does not leave you alone, Lexington Law is an affordable legal tool to get them to stop calling and writing you. They are also very effective at deleting the negative information off of your credit reports.

For help fixing your credit report, you can reach Lexington Law at 877-699-5735.

Oh, and Miss Hill, thanks for calling ;)

Important! File a complaint with the Pennsylvania Attorney General – easy online form (NCO is a PA company and PA is investigating NCO)

P.S. The Pennsylvania Attorney General recently finished a big case against them, though the complaints continue.

Hey NCO Collector, what makes you think that refusing to pay the exorbitant interest and fees charged by corporate thieves is “stealing” Who’s stealing from whom? If you have a problem with thievery, why do you work for your shyster of an employer?

I receive a calls and letters from NCO constantly. The account they mention has been paid for years. I have no idea what to do about this situation. Once I figure something out, I’ll let you know what worked for me.

A Michigan collection agency calling
themselves Asset Acceptance, calls from numbers 866-429-3592 and 866-429-3591.
Its a company of NCO,right?
They have reported incorrect negative information on my credit report for years. They Never sent me a letter, bill or anything. They never validated the debt, They just have been reporting it for years, while adding large amounts to the original owed and
reaging the debt so it stays on longer,
even putting false date of last activity on my credit report.
The number shows up a few times a year,
so they don’t call very often.
Once I answered a cell phone with a
Florida number and it was some Guy
asking when we were going to pay
Asset Acceptance. I said I do Not owe
it, they never validated it and hung up. I have not heard from them since.
However they have ruined my credit report for years, causing me damages,
I have not been able to buy a home in
years because of them. I cannot even get a 300 dollar loan, because of them.
Any Lawyers out there willing to Sue them For everything they’ve got?

The phone no. comes up—out of area–
on my caller ID. They leave a message
to call them back. I have read these
kind of reports and have not returned
their calls as that is an exercise in
futility. I guess I’ll wait for a letter
and go from there.

I saw the entry below and have been having the same experience from the same #. These bastards call me about 6 times a week, sometime twice a day on my cell phone. The oddest thing is the automated voice on the other line switches from a woman to a man to a woman with a strict British accent

“This pigs called me too – ironically on the same day I had order an up to date credit check. Who are they?! Why are they calling?! How did they get my info. Like many of you – they called a cell phone I recently purchased…the number is new.

Here is the # they called me on:
1 800 810-0590

THEY SUCK!

13 Bored With NCO February 12, 2008 at 3:26 am

Another number for NCO: 215-436-8621 This one did not come up in searching this page or Call Ferret.

NCO is attempting to contact me on an account that has been closed for at least 8 years now. At least that’s how far back my finacial records go, but it is more likely longer than that. I even looked at my credit reports for the past few years (yes, I save them) and cannot find the original creditor, to whom NCO says I owe, on any of them.

I received a letter from NCO a couple weeks ago, out of the blue. I was going to ‘just throw it away’, but glad I waited and came across this web page. I sent NCO a “Cease & Desist” letter, which I know NCO has received by the Return Receipt. NCO still continues to call. I have my phone set to “Restrict Incoming Calls Except Contacts” (phone only rings if caller is in my contacts list, but shows only in my missed calls). So, I do not know anyone outside of my contacts called unless I look at my missed calls list. I am logging the dates/times & numbers which NCO uses in attempting to contact me. This page helps me identify all the different numbers NCO uses so I can be sure the calls came from NCO and the call was not a telemarketing or some other business call.

Note to NCO: “Please keep calling me, and please write again soon. I will be turning over my paper trail and logs to my attorney in the near future.”

We had a death in the family so I flew to the NW from the South to be with my family. I answer the phone a few minutes past 8aM!!! on a Saturday morning to listen to a freakin automated dialer requesting that I call back ‘ms.griffith’ @ 866-284-6832 — of course I don’t live here… of course i blocked the number… and of course they have no idea where to go UNTIL you give them your phone number so they can harass you. So I said some nice things about the 10-15 dollar an hour bottom feeding whore that they are and the company…. and hung up… then called back… again… Really grinds my gears that on a weekend morning these lunatics crank up the autodialer to see what poor souls they can have return their calls which are nothing more than poorly baited hooks. ALSO… after looking up some info about the company I discover that they make their money by purchasing illegitamit or ancient debts and then try to find a way to get payment…when they are either not valid or past all statutes of limitations… and perhaps the 1.5 million they paid to the ftc didn’t sting enough to let them know… I wish their was something else I could do other than call them back and waste their little phone peoples time with my animosity. They are truly not at fault – it is the egomaniac brainiac executives that watch the numbers as the people in the trenches do all the nasty work. Those people need to get dinged with another hefty penalty… i probably wouldnt be so ticked if I wasnt staying at my younger sisters house… who had excellent financial history…and is the family member that passed away – I have enough people calling for the inherent reasons…I dont need a company (only by simple definition) that operates like this to call me on a weekend so early…and for NOTHING

I would love to pursue this company when I return home and see if I cant create some problems for them. Very bad timing on their part…

back to bed =\

In RESPONSE TO THAT PREVIOUS POST FROM THE DEBT COLLECTOR. The economy is crumbling and your supervisors are scrambling to come up with anyway possible, mostly illegal ways to get the money coming in. If the money doesn’t come in, you are out of work and that crooked agency which you work for will crumble. Sorry to hear that all you know in life is telemarketing and collections. Dont come crawling to me for a job. I’ll spit in your face.

NCO is harassing me for a disputed debt that dates back to 1989. The company cannot provide proof of the purchase, despite the fact that the items were refunded. This was before many merchants were using electronic terminals. NCO was informed via CERTIFIED/RETURN RECEIPT MAIL to stop all contact. I havent heard a thing from them since 2004. Now they are bombarding me with these phone messages. This company is once again breaking the law. FYI The government uses this illegal company to collect on delinquent educational loans.

I filed complaints with the attorney gen, and numerous other agencies. Waiting for replies. I am also filing suit against NCO and seeking class action status. NYC Area.

For he/she claiming to work for AMEX; your probably not important enough in your organization to understand/know about the disgusting practices AMEX and other credit card companies use to get people to spend money they dont have. Its a billion dollar industry, you moron (my apology, you’re probably not a moron, but just a no-body AMEX employee, so how would you really know). Also, the money wouldnt be OWED if the consumer successfully filed chapter 7, or if it were proven that they were a victim of identity fraud as I was. American Express are simply ass holes about this, and that is that!

i have received numerous letters from nco out of the blue. i overdrafted with bank of america like 4 years ago (i was 19!!!) and i owed money and it was paid off with a credit card..i have proof to this day that it was paid and in nov 2007 my parents are getting calls from the looking for me. They won’t leave their name and are extremly RUDE. They told me to fax my proof and their manager would review it and make a decison. I also think that it is odd to have 2 totally seperate addresses on their letters in 2 totally different states. The number that they contacted me with is 888-848-0833. The addresses on my statement are P.O.BOX 15630 DEPT 27 WILMINGTON, DE 19850 AND 507 Prudential Road, Horsham, PA 19044

NCO has been calling and harassing for a debt that is not even mine. I have asked them numerous times to stop calling and take my number out of their computer system. Call the compliance department if you are receiving harassing calls for a debt that you do not owe. They will take your number out of their system immediately since they have already been sued and found guilty of violating federal law.

you are all absolutly rediculous!! i sit here and read all these comments and LAUGH my butt off, seriously. do you relize if you owe money – you owe money! how dare you charge up money you dont have – to not pay it back. and you want us to cut you a break? funny stuff. read the fine print too before you sign up for a credit card. once you sign that contract you are OBLIGATED to pay that money back, which you should anyways. i personally work in american express -which the contract states amex requires 10 pect of the balance due imidetly. which we will usually work with you to get with your situation, depending on the size of your balance. you all want to send in 50 dollars here and 100 dollars there… what do you expect that to do, we graciously offer settlement offers and other ways to help you pay your balance. HELP YOU. *key word there. you are all so ignorant and getting pissed off at nco just beacuse you owe debt, not our fault. doesnt matter how old it is – it makes it way to collections either way and depending on way yoru going to co operate, is what stage you get into. like 1st, 2nd and 3rd. these acounts get returned by certain dates – to our client. from there they evaluate you to take you to court… sue you. why shouldnt they, you stole money!! get over yourselfs and relize your in the wrong. also… if you are getting calls and dont answer thats yoru fault they call back. i call my cardmembers EVERYDAY, leave messages EVERYDAY – and if your lucky you make it to my 8am breakfast club. i call every day beacuse its my job and you owe money. call back – get the options we have for you. stop being so … plainly put.. DUMB.

ps: this was a communication from a debt collector. :]

Due to bad living conditions in my current apartment and my landlord doing nothing about it, my husband and I applied for an apartment so that we can move. Surprisingly, we are denied due to my husband showing that he owed money to a landlord. Very surprised I thought it was definetely wrong because we have only rented from 1 person and we are still living in the same place owing NO money to them. So they give me the number for them, which is
215-441-3000
which is NCO. When i give them the account number that shows on my husbands credit as a debt owed to a landlord, it was an old cell phone bill from 6 years ago!!! nothing to do with a landlord. Now, no one answers the phone so that i can get a letter stating that this is for a cell phone and not rent. And i can’t move out!!!! If anyone knows what can be done in this situation, please reply!!!

Please add 619-374-7745 to the list of phone numbers for NCO Financial Systems. They call my friend’s place several times a day but do not leave any message on the message machine. If the call is answered, it is explained that my friend is recovering from renal failure and to cease the phone calls. NCO refuses to leave any further information including any reference number. A reference number does not violate any privacy rights, but allows us to identify the reason for the call.

I went to the web site address and tried to enter the code but it did not work. I have no idea what this regards since I have never received any correspondence. Phone 877-847-0092. I received a call at both my home and cell phone numbers with a recorded message to call NCO regarding a debt. Since I don’t have any past due or collections accounts, I figured they were either a scam or called my number by mistake. When I called NCO, I was disconnected three times. I called back for a forth time and after I was put on hold (by a live person), I was finally able to speak to someone about this phone call. The lady, “Mrs. Nixon”, asked me what telephone number I received my recorded message on. I told her I received two calls, one to my cell and one at home. She looked up both numbers and then asked if my name is “Dan”. Since my name is not Dan, she immediately said, sorry, “I’ll remove this number from our call list. I couldn’t believe how easy that was, which led me to believe this is all one big scam. Then, she looked up my home number, and this time she asked me if my name is “Alan”, which it is. But when she looked up to see why I received a call, she came back and said, “I don’t see any file for you. Sorry, I’ll remove that number as well”.

I think, these guys are “fishing”. They get/buy phone lists and call people claiming they have a debt they owe. I’m sure there are people out there that will give them SSN/DOB any any other personal info that NCO asks for. The way I see it, if they have my file then they alresy have all the info they need and they don’t need to ask me any personal questions.

Watch these guys!!!!!

888-889-2816 – I got a letter in the mail about a hospital bill about an ambulance ride from my school to a hospital, that either my school or insurance company should have picked up. The bill was from 2002, and they mailed me about it today almost 6 years later. If it isn’t enough to charge me for something that’s so old, their charging me for something that happened when I was 15 and wasn’t eligible for credit. I’ll fight this to the death.

Thank you writing this blog. You are truly doing great work. NCO is simply the mafia. Their loan sharks beating people up for owning money (even if their reasons aren’t legit). I can’t thank you enough for this. This is why the internet and blogs are so wonderful. Thank you again.

ps, I also feel inclined to suggest a documentary film called “Maxed Out” In the film they actually go behind the scenes with a company that does work similar to NCO. Overall it’s an excellent film about credit card culture in America. They also tackle how bogus credit ratings really are. I’m sure anyone here would be interested in this film, if they haven’t seen it already.

866-576-1447. NCO called me on home landline and left a message. re: NCO Financial Systems was calling regarding debt collection. I only use this landline for Internet connectivity and other selective purposes.

Reasons I suspected this call was fraudulent: (1) I have no outstanding debt; (2) my credit rating was in the 790s last fall; (3) the voice message was recorded and yet included a “case reference number.”

Things that further clued me in per my attempts to reach someone and discuss the “matter”: (1) I was disconnected the first few times I called NCO’s number; (2) The first time I got a live voice, the “CSR” used the clipped version of my full first name (rather than than my legal first name) AND, when I immediately said I had no outstanding debt, the phone line went dead; (3) I called a number of times after the first initial live contact and the line was busy; (4) When I got through again, I spoke with another CSR, who apologized for being “cut off” and said NCO’s lines were not working correctly. I told her that I had contacted the Better Business Bureau and that I would “report them” if I didn’t resolve the nature of NCO’s call. I was transferred back to the first CSR with whom I spoke, who now referred to me by new first and last names — neither of which was mine. When I asked why the name associated with my landline had changed from my actual name to a new one, the CSR told me that NCO’s phone lines were not working correctly. The line then went dead. (4) I called one last time to request that my phone number be removed from NCO’s files. Again, I was referred to by the erroneous name NCO’s CSRs started using after my initial contact. The CSR said that the phone number would be removed.

I am following up by sending NCO a certified, return-receipt cease and desist letter (as recommended here and by the BBB.) I am also ordering a copy of my Credit Report.

I have several accounts on my credit reports from NCO Financial Systems. I spent the entire day on the phone with them and it seems that they CAN NOT FIND ME IN THEIR SYSTEM!! Not by Name or SS#. As soon as they can’t find me they transfer me or put me on hold for hours at a time. I don’t know what to do next.

This company is are harassers and it has to stop. An update Sharon contues to call my mother and won’t leave her alone. My mother finally called back and Sharon demanded my phone number and my mother is like you already talked to her and Sharon said no I didn’t. My mother asked for her manager. Her manager gets on and my mother let them have it. She siad you can’t be doing this, this has nothig to do with me and you need to stop calling here. You are a fraud and you are trying to steal from people and peoples identity. She told her boss she kepts calling her and she needs to stop and she nees to stop asking for her phone number she already spoke to her. SHe said she is rude and nasty. Sharon’s boss asked her and she finally admited that she did have it and continued to try to play that she was justified in trying to talk to me because I used profanity when I talked to her. Well I told her about 10 times in one call I couldnt’ talk to her and she said then why is she bothering. Well she must still feel like she needs to continue to bother us. I have filed a complaint and my debt relief agency/attorney has sent them a letter but they haven’t stopped.

What do we do just because we are trying our best to pay back the debts which they know they act like we are criminals. I mean they can see either some of us are working on paying it or we are in a program to pay it. I am not a harden criminal and liek she said I pay my other bills on time.

They can keep passing to other collectors until the Statute of Limitations (where they cannot sue you) has run and you tell them to Cease and Desist. It’s based on what you know (or do not) as always with the legal contest. It is a contest, you know, or you wouldn’t have to look for the “best” lawyer.

I was contacted today by NCO under the number (866)849-2438. I was at work at the time, and there was no message left. I must first explain that I have had two debts, which I fully admit, but both of which have been paid IN FULL. I have letters of receipt, as well as the charges to prove this. It was a nightmare to have these two debts finally over and done with. I ran from creditors, calls from collections agencies, out of fear of facing my mistakes. When I finally did this earlier this month, the relief I felt having paid my debts was enormous. I felt as though I would no longer have to fear answering the phone, applying for a bank account, or purchasing a car. Because, although these were negative activity on my credit report, I knew that they had been paid in full, not settled.
When I received this call today, I returned it on my break, wondering who would be attempting to contact me via an 866 area code. When my call was answere, a woman (pressumably) answered, and spoke so fast I could not understand a word she said. I stammered out, “Hi, yes, I received a call from this number?” and was immediately transfered. When my call was taken off hold, another woman spoke, once again, at a completely uncomprehensible speed. I said, “Yes, I received a call from this number?”, to which I BELIEVE she replied, “hold please”. I was placed back on hold, or what I believed to be hold, for a moment, before I was completely hung up on.

Before tonight I had never seen my credit report. However, after reading many posts on here, I decided to get one. I thought that maybe this is simply someone trying to collect on my ex’s debt to a hospital, and he did in fact give out my number, as we were together at the time. However, I found that an inquiry was made into my credit by NCO Financial in October. I paid my bill this month to Nations Financial. I have no idea what they want. I have no idea who to contact at this point. And I have no interest in trying to communicate with people that speak at such a speed so as to be deliberately incomprehensible. I have no idea what to do. Thankfully, they only called me once today, but the inquiry into my credit tells me that they will be back, most definitely.

Just a word of advice, coming from a 20-something with a lot of fear, and little knowledge: for all of the younger ones out there, if you get yourself into trouble, no matter how scared you are, handle it. Take care of it. Because you do not need to lose sleep over this. Just own up to your mistakes, pay off your debts, and learn the lesson that you have taught yourself. I spent far too much time running. The feeling that I had the day I knew that I had paid all of my debts was indescribable. I was beyond relieved, and proud of myself for finally growing up and taking responsibility for my previous irresponsible behavior. Thankfully, the woman that contacted me, with whom I finally paid all of my debts, was extremely kind to me. It was simply business to her. She didn’t judge me, she didn’t harass me, none of it. I was definitely lucky.

Ok these people are jerks. The woman whose name is Sharon is a complete bitch. She called my parents and left messages then when my mom called back asked for my number and wouldn’t tell her what it is with regards to do and was down right nasty. I called her yesterday and went off on her because she leaves the worse messages of hateful ness and won’t say who she’s with and says i need to call her right away. Then calls me a little girl and yells at me and tells me to pay my bill. I am in a debt program and they are working with the creditor directly. SHe then insist I tell her who I am owrking with and tries to say you have to tell me. I’m like no I odn’t and I’m not going to talk to you she continued to yell and I even told her to “f” you. She was so nasty. I told her I am reporting you to the FTC then she continued to yell at me and continued on and on, I sai dI don’t have to tell you and thne she say s then why am I talk ing to you. SO i hung up the phone. THe first call I let her have it I didn’t care who she was with. When I asked what it was in regards to she says very bitchy well I have to chedk I don’t know right off the bat. I was liek lose the attitude and when she continued to call me a little girl I said I am a woman and that’s when she continued to yell and i said f you. She continued some more then as I was trying to hang the phone up she hug up and then called back and left me and even nastier vociemail saying I can’t al;k to her like that. When I calle dher back after speaking with my debt consellor (sorry) she was like did you calm down and wouldn’t let me get a word in edge wise. I told her I was reporting you and I ave nothing to say to you then she pulled up my crediut report and was like you have good credit other then this an disaid I know then why dont’ you pay I said thats none of your business, and please dont’ call me again. I told her this the first call and the second. Continued to repeat it and then finally she was like why am I talking to you. I said i don’t know and i hung up the phone. Sharon needs to learn som emannors and get an attitude adjustment majorly. This firm is horrible. I have reported them to the FTC and I wish someone would force them out of business. She doesn’t tell you who she works for and says she can’t say what it’s in reference to. Well no offense I don’t call people back unless they tell me who they work for and second the only reason I called her back is to tell her to stop harassing my family and calling there. She got my cell phone number and kept leaving me deceitful messages. oh well HERE IS THE NUMBER I GOT

877-459-9354.

Hint!! If you call them back use *67 before dialing the number and they won’t see your number otherwise they haave caller id and will bug you non stop from whatever phone you use. Including work.

716-636-1588 was the number on my caller ID.

The first time I got a call, they were looking for someone else. The second time they called, they wanted to claim that this same individual referred to me as a friend. I’ve never had anyone with this name as a friend in my life. I said there are many people with the same name as mine, and the caller acknowledged that there are probably many who have the same name as the individual they were looking for. I hope this is the last time I hear from them, but somehow I won’t count on it.

Around Christmas time, I received a letter from NCO stating I owed a debt from Provident bank which I know I did not owe. Anyhow, I sent them a polite letter immediately via registered mail stating that I requested validation and mentioned the appropriate paragraph of the fair debt collection act. About a month later, I received a letter from them stating the the account was closed in their office and they have not reported it to any credit reporting agency (which is true, I just checked). However, I noticed that I now have a hard inquiry from them on Experian from Aug 07. I am wondering how they are able to do this?? Is this against the law or is there something I can do? Can I or should I dispute this?

On Christmas Eve, I got a letter from these souless mutants claiming I owed over $7,000 for a debt, which I never had. The story gets more bizarre. Immediately, I went online freaking out and looking for a copy of my credit report. I thought maybe someone fraudulently used my credit information to obtain a loan for which I had no knowledge. Nothing was on my credit report. It was spotless. Apparently, NCO acquired the debt from a major bank, one through which I recently took out a business credit card. I called the bank, who had no record of the account number that was written on the letter from NCO. So how did NCO acquire the alleged account??? It is very difficult to get information from the bank, because obviously they have some blame here too.
After I sent a letter to both the bank and NCO demanding copies of the loan agreement and signature page plus itemized expenditures, I got a letter back from the bank and NCO saying that my case was closed and that they would not report it to any credit bureau. Thanks for that mistake. I had to worry about that all through the Holidays thanks to their little mistake. Corporations like these guys are way too powerful and need some kind of imposed quality control which is why I am going to file complaints in the State of Washington and wherever these guys do business. Happy New Year!

I am a research scientist. My Mom had a minor accident and I had to call ambulance to take her to hospital while she was visiting me for couple of months from my homeland. As she didn’t have medical insurance I applied for emergency Medicare as she was just a visitor and she was approved and all her medical bills were waived including the ambulance fee after she received her benefit identification card. She even went back my homeland. Now after one and a half year I got a letter from these NCO Financial Systems INC saying that I owe $ 426 to them for the ambulance service. And that they have my social security number n stuffs. I told them that I have my own medical benefits and if I need to go to hospital and it’s an emergency I have my insurance to pay for it. And that my mom’s case has been settled. She was very rude and trying to imply as if I am lying by saying how come if it was my mom then my social security and my name they got. I said that obviously my mom was my dependent and she didn’t have a social security number so I might have to fill my informations too at the hospital, as she was just a tourist here. She was trying to tell me that I would have to pay for that ambulance bill now and it wasn’t resolved. I told her if it wasn’t resolved then trust me I would have get letter from the insurance companies every 15 days. Now she want my moms benefit card number and my phone number. I checked about them online and it’s a good thing that I did. Because I found out all about NCO financial pranks.
Thank you guys.

Now the calls have started again, from a Bill Sawyer in Toronto, CA…# 1-888-217-9861. Interestingly, the credit card company credited my account with a nice sum of $$, as an apology for our trouble.

Thank you for this board! I have been getting non-stop calls for my brother for weeks now. Many different numbers (sorry, didn’t keep track) but they usually say NCO Financial. The other night it said UNITEDSTATIONERS and I found that strange. That’s when I found this site. I told them over and over that whatever they want they’ll have to contact my brother by mail because he’s never here. That’s not stopping them. Today my mom got a call from Reuben Swartz looking for my brother. I checked that out and discovered it’s just like NCO, only a different name and based in Chicago. By the way, my brother earns a reasonable income and can pay his bills. I’m sure these are bogus claims.

I too received a letter on 12/19/07 from NCO Horsham PA. I have excellent credit. NCO looked at my credit in August. I have no idea why they checked my credit. I own my home and my cars. I don’t carry a monthy debt. They say the former creditor is Chase/assignee of Provi and that I owe $8619.18. They also enclosed a payment coupon. I immediately contacted the Attorneys General by email in PA, NJ and Tx where I reside. They have all responded to this email and are doing an investigation about this complaint. I also sent NCO a letter of verification for this debt on 12/22/07 but they have not responded. I haven’t received phone calls. I contacted 60 Minutes the TV news program with this story of extortation.
They replied with this email;

You may send your experience with NCO and your request to have this story investigated via email to; 60m@cbsnews.com

If a 60 MINUTES producer does not contact you directly within 4 to 5
weeks, you may assume that CBS News is not going to report your story.

Cordially,

Ray Faiola
Director,
Audience Services

I would encourage contacting 60 Minutes with your stories of extortion. Perhaps they will do a news story about this mafia operation.
Let’s hope it will stop this extortion.

Hey guys, disputing with the credit agencies is easy, don’t be scared! In my experience, I contacted the credit agency (online) and explained that the company who put the bad stuff on my credit report was unable to explain to me why specifically I owed them money. Then the credit agency tried to take it up with the “debt collector” and had no luck, and took it off my report. I think the credit agencies probably know about NCO, too.

Update for ya!

Mom and dad did have a bankruptcy about 14 years ago, and there was a Chase card involved in that bankruptcy. However, the bankruptcy has (obviously) long since been discharged, and didn’t even show up on their credit reports when they were being looked at for their mortgage. So dad got to looking at NCO himself, and wrote them (I say ‘them’, he wrote the CEO, legal department, and general letter) all letters return receipt, as well as our Attorney General here in Louisiana, the Attorney General in Pennsylvania, and the AG in New Jersey and told them that he contested the debt on the grounds that it was discharged in a 1990 bankruptcy filing.

Got a letter from NCO saying they had closed the account with them and no file was made with the major credit bureaus. The only way we think they even knew this debt existed was that TransUnion had a blurb about it on their report, but it said ‘Discharged/Closed’.

Long story short: the cease and desist letters DO work, and if you know it’s not your debt or it’s paid off, FIGHT THEM tooth and nail about it!

Hey I miss NCOs funny phone calls, the best one was: “This is the IRS and we’ll be calling back in 45mins, answer the phone” or something like that. Or, they make it seem like an employer is calling about a “personnel matter”

Anyway, they finally stopped! But someone new’s come a calling, a law firm, Hunt & Henriques. 151 Bernal Road Suite 8
San Jose, California, 95119

Their http://www.hunthenriques.com website says ‘Our firm represents creditors in situations where the obligations have become seriously delinquent with no resolution pending….” And they list NCO as a client. Yep, my invalid debt is about 20 years old.

Instead of NCOs call, H&H calls now, 800 496-5048

And after getting the 20th+ once a week automated “this is H&H please return our call….” phone message – I filed a complaint with the FTC.

I am a student that has been called by NCO. They say that they are not looking for me but someone named Lisa but I just thought that I would leave the numbers that they contacted me with. There are two diffferent numbers: 800-511-8671 and 800-511-8670. I hope that this may help.

We have received calls for over 1 1/2 years (avg. 20 calls/mo) to the people who used to have our phone number. I have told them repeatedly that they have not had this number for a while, yet I still get these irritating calls. It’s not even our debt but the people who used to have our phone number!! Help!

I received the same letter from NCO that seems to be going around. Is this a revised version of a chain letter? Just kidding. Knowing that I did not owe this company any money, I did check my credit report today as to the possibility of ID Theft my report is all fine and clear. I did block my number before I called the number listed on the letter 800-383-4761 and when I finally was able to speak to a real person, I asked for her first and last name, Debra Moore. Before giving any of my information I let her know that I would also be recording the call and she hung up on me. This was kind of funny. I think we should all call them 3 or 4 time each day for the next few days. Ha Ha. But maybe together we can do something real about this attempted fraud.

I had a bankruptcy in Feb 1993. 6 months prior to that I had hired a bankruptcy lawyer and was told to cut up all my credit cards which I did in his office.
Bankruptcy was discharged on Feb 1993. Last week I had received a letter from a collection agency named: NCO financial systems Inc. The correspondence that indicated I owed 19,397.40. On a original balance of 5,655.08! Is this collection attempt legal after 16 years? They said my last payment was on July 1992, and the card was opened in 1988. I do not remember having this credit card. They do not have any other information on this account other than this last payment I had made prior than my bankruptcy. It was also the only time they had contacted me and I live in my home 11 years now. Even other address before that I had never been contacted about this credit card. And the Interest accrued to 13,742.32! Is this attempt legal? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I also ran a credit report from three major credit bureau’s and my credit is excellent. No record of the account number was on the report from the statement NCO had sent to me. I believe this fraudulent and should be investigated. Also a letter that they had faxed us the original amount stated on the original statement is 19,397.40 and on the faxed letter the amt owed states 19,414.75. Also the interest is different as well. Something is definitely wrong here. Please investigate! I really would appreciate it.

Got a call from the bastards today. I got a recorded message from 410-986-0085. The message said i owed some debt and to call another 1800number. The funny thing is i’m 20 years old and have not a single credit card, or any other debt other than my house note which i have never missed a payment on. this is a joke. This has to be illegal.

I live in Texas and the SoL is 4 years. I just got a collection letter from NCO out of NJ with an offer to pay 50% of the balance owed over 3 months. The original amount at the stated 6% interest would have been outstanding over 12 years to accumulate the balance they say I owe. I checked all 3 credit reports and I don’t have any negative items on any. I did see that NCO made a credit inquiry on my record 4 months ago. I know I don’t owe them anything.

No phone calls have started yet to my knowledge, however, I rarely answer phone calls in the evening when they come from 1-8xx- numbers. (If it’s important, they can leave a message.) I plan to send them a certified with return receipt cease and desist letter.

Here’s my question: If I wanted to file a complaint with the AG, do I do this with my AG in Texas or the AG in NJ?

I’m with Dave who posted on 12-20-07. I also received a letter in December from address: PO Box 4909, Dept. 22, Trenton, NJ 08650-4907 and an 800 number (800.383.4761). My letter also said I owed over 15K at 10% interest to them from a former creditor Chase/Assignee of Provi and that I could pay a total of over 7K in up to 3 month payments. Like Dave, I also don’t owe anyone money nor am I past-due on any accounts. I don’t even know who the original creditor is. I’ve tried calling them and the line is always busy or the voicemail box is full. This is all very strange. Some of you are being asked to pay a couple hundred dollars but they’re crazy if I’m just going to hand over $15,373.35 just because they sent a very official looking letter and a return envelope.

BLESS YOU ALL for sharing the information!! You have SAVED Christmas for myself and my husband…we got a letter today, 12/22 and of course there’s no way you can find out anything until after 12/25 — Dave, we got the Chase/Assignee of Provi bit — saying we owe 11K and can pay half, etc. etc. The letter even used my maiden name, which I have not legally used since 1992 — and virtually no mail here at our current house is ever received under my maiden name. Part of me was wondering if they got my information from Brown University, since that’s in Providence and all of a sudden I started getting alumni magazines from them out of the blue (I only did 2.5 years there, and I figured that Brown was merely trolling for donations). We will thoroughly read through this site, take all precautions as suggested, and tell Santa to bring extra goodies to all you folks who have kept us from panicking!

My dad received a letter from NCO this morning. My mom opened it and read it, then started getting scared. The ‘debt’ it wants paid off is over $11,000. My parents have never had that much debt, other than their mortgage, which is less than four months old. Mom had never even heard of this card. When they get a credit card, they both get a copy of it. I went through her wallet, she went through her credit counseling folder (she and dad had some outstanding debt that they paid through a credit counseling service) and called the credit counselors. They said there was no such account that THEY had, and if WE don’t have it and THEY don’t have it, we never owed them money. The credit counselors are sending her statements from all the cards they did have. We also called our local state police troop’s fraud division. After much investigation and stumbling upon MANY websites (including this one) we figured out that it was VERY likely that this debt wasn’t even theirs. No phone calls yet – we have been lucky so far. But there were hangups at our old number, and the letter was sent to the old address. Coincidence? I think not.

Got a letter from them 12/19/07 from address: PO Box 4909, Dept 22, Trenton, NJ 08650-4909

Has anyone else received a letter from them in New Jersey? Evidentally they get in trouble in one state and move to another! I thought they were in Pennsylvania.

Letter says I owe over 15K at 10% interest to them from former creditor Chase/Assignee of Provi and that I can pay a total of over 7K (50% of the balance) in up to 3 monthly payments! Also says the offer may expire and to call before paying and to visit them online at http://www.ncofinancial.com with a unique registration code to use.

I don’t have any bad debt and everything is paid in full, so I don’t even know what they are talking about. No phone calls as yet, but thanks to this site I know how to handle them if and when they come. I will record the calls and inform them I am doing so and I will send a cease and desist letter by registered mail.

Thanks to this site and all of your comments I have the info I need to deal with this company.

Four days before I got NCO Financial systems Inc. Debt collection letter, somebody from India called me and asked for $208 debt from my old visa card which I closed about two years ago and didn’t owe any money on the card.
The first day, it was 8:30 PM,the person from India did phone harassment for at least 20 minutes. After then, I got calls from them every day.
Today I got the letter and found that
my old credit card number does not match my NCO Account #.

This is information I found on another website that may be helpful: “Advice from the Inside I wanted to give my e-mail, but the supervisors monitor our internet activity.
I am a debt collector, (one of the ones who call you), for NCO Financial. I am writing you this to give you all some info. on certain things you should all know.

MOST IMPORTANT!!! The minute you receive a letter, or a phone call from us.. Send us a letter of no contact. I receive these daily on accounts i have been assigned. I AM TOLD!!! To disregard them until the customer puts in a complaint. If I call you, and you have sent the letter, I am supposed, SUPPOSED, to tell you we have not received it. Get verification you sent the letter. Tell me the number on your form 3800. By law, I can’t call you back, so I’m told. Keep this little for for your records. I am supposed to forward this information to my supervisor. If you get another call, call an attorney, make this heartless company know you mean business. It seems a lot of people i talk to think this business will blow off a consumer. NOT TRUE!!! This heartless company is more afraid of the FTC and PA Attorney General than most would believe. I get numerous responses about the PA Attorney General being contacted. Don’t bluff NCO, just actually do it. Seems the AG of PA is highly involved in scams, this constitutes as a scam.

Ask me for validity, (and in some cases like with credit cards over 3-5 years old), for not a statement, but the itemized charges on your account. 99.5% of the time, I can’t find anything. Were supposed to give these to you. If I can’t, were told to start being more aggressive to you about a settlement. DON’T SETTLE!!! In 2004, when I first started working here, we were told, illegally, to modify peoples accounts to look like the account had just been opened. There were fake payment stubs that were modified, and also fake payment stubs that were shredded!!! AGREE TO NOTHING!!!! OK Before I get fired. This place is Circus. Just send in your no contact letter and I will not contact you again. IF I do, I have broken the law and deserve to be sued under 623(a)(5).

Check your SOL IN YOU STATE!!! This puts the AG’s staff on your side. Hard to sue in a state with a grievance letter to the attorney general.

Don’t be afraid of me…I can’t take away your B-day. Most the time I am full of crap on an account that I have no idea about other than my commission. Treat me as a telemarketer. EXCEPTION…You owe me the money and I want yours. If your close to or over the SOL tell me to Kiss your AZZ. If not, It’s your game and the balls in your court. I’m not gonna garnish your wages unless you fail to fight me. I won’t call you again with the harassing calls unless you let me. It’s your life and your dollar. FIGHT ME TILL IT MATTERS!!!

Heres the problem: Everybody comes here to complain about NCO yet they never do anything about them. If everyone who took the time to come here to post a complaint would write to the Pa Attorney General’s office then NCO would eventually ceast to exist. So if you are here reading this board because you are having a problem with NCO then do something that will really get them off your back. Contact the Attorney General’s office they WANT to hear from people who are being harrassed by NCO. Let shut these crooks down once and for all!!

Ok people Listen up and Listen good. NCO WILL DO EVERYTHING IN THEIR POWER TO COLLECT MONEY. Im at witts end with these soulless scavengers. I have been dealing with them for over 5 years now. I was in a bad accident in 2001 and since then have had SERIOUS trouble paying all my bills off. They dont Care. the debt im sure has past the statute of limitations at this point. Yet they still call. At least 5 times a week. Now they have taken up a new tactic. They call my hose and when my wife answers the phone its usualy some Woman asking for me. When my wife asks what its in regards to, this woman says things like you sure are a nosey bitch, Why are you asking so many questions. My wife replys, your asking about my husband of course im asking you questions.
Somehow, these people have even gotten ahold of my myspace information and have begun to send Letters to my wife and myself. This is getting to be rediculis. OF course they dont say they are from NCO. But the names are thae same as people who call me from NCO on the phone. I just dont know what to do anymore.

I never answer the phone, but let the answering machine do it, and their number appears on caller I.D., though their name doesn’t. I put in the phone number on a search engine and came to this site.

I say ignore them. They love it when you get annoyed or upset or even scared. If you have to manually answer the phone and it turns out to be them, DON’T TALK TO THEM, JUST HANG UP! If they have any legitimate dispute with you, let them send you a letter by U.S. Mail.

Call Al Zezulinski from NCO, direct number 1-215-441-3312 – he is the VP. Or call Lisa Signore 1-215-442-8315 she is VP Legal Compliance. Al’s the better contact guy, he loves getting phone calls from upset people!!! Call him, its a hoot! It beats being put on hold for hours and being hung up on….

I received a message this morning from NCO (also known as Assetcare, Inc.)regarding my husband. Thinking that since we do not have any bad debt it was about his ex-wife (she has bad debt and we have been contacted before by collectors trying to reach her), I called back to resolve the issue.

The very rude woman said it was in regards to my husbands’ account and hung up on me.

I called back and demanded information. Although she shouldn’t have, she told me an amount owed on some supposed Visa bill (company I’ve never heard of) and most of it was due to late fees and charges over many years. I told her that we don’t owe anything and that this is a bogus claim. (I pull our credit reports on a regular basis.)

She then lied and said that she spoke to my husband in September and he acknowledged the debt. I told her that never happened as we don’t have any bad debt. She said that two letters regarding this claim had been sent in the mail. I told her we never received any information and she started berating me (“Well who’s getting your mail then?!?”) Completely ridiculous. I asked her to fax me all pertinent information regarding this supposed “debt” so I could research it and she told me they could not fax it so I asked her to then send it, which I doubt will happen.

I then researched the company more and found several similar complaints about this company on your site as well as others. The number they called from was 866.429.3597.

I have filed a complaint with the FTC (she lied about my husband acknowledging debt and gave out information to someone other than him without knowing for sure that I was actually his wife) and will file with the attorney generals office and BBB as well.

If they call again, I will tell them to discontinue calling and will let them know a cease and desist letter is being sent to them (via certified mail, of course…thanks for the letter and the information)

As I was dog sitting today for my sister Mrs. McDonALD 1-877-845-3857 and770300-2500 called her house. When I answered my sisters phone the lady asked for my sister by name in a really nice chippery best friend voice. None of my sisters friends are that nice. AND any one of substance in her life would know that she is out of town because her in law passed away. I proceeded to tell this lady she was not home and out of town.. end of story right? wrong.. she wanted her cell phone number..cuz she is a friend… If she was a friend she would have it..DUH!!?
I told her… did not have one.. Mrs. Mc Donald then proceeded to ask me how I contact her. I told it was not of her concern for since they are such good friends she would contact her. why is she asking me!
This woman was relentless and went to so much of asking for the number to reach her at in case of emergency’s. Because and i shall quote” No one goes out of town with out leaving a contact number”
I then proceeded to explain to Mrs. McDonald that this is the United States Of America and I have the right to remian silent and hung up on her.I will be sharing this site with my sis when she returns because this woman is a trip!

I get DAILY calls from these jerks. How do I make them stop? Does anyone have an address for the Attorney General? I’m in
VA. I can’t block the calls and I’m sick of this.
Has anyone had long term success on getting them to stop calling? If so how?

Have called me 5 times in the last week. I paid thee ER bill back in 1998, still went on my credit report because I paid in cash like an IDIOT. I do not even live in the state anymore, it is no longer on my credit report ass it has been almost 10 years. I just hung up with one of their nice (lol) people and let them know the certified letter was in the mail and the online complaint with the PA. GA was being filled out as we spoke. Funny, they hung up on me. I really hope they call back. What a bunch of.. well, you know what!!

I rec a letter from NCO and the calls started. I sent the cease and desist letter. I know their games because I work for a collection attorney. We stopped working with them about 6 years ago because of their practices. When I answered one of the calls and told the collector that by calling my cell phone she is violating the FDCPA (because each call costs you money) she hung up on me. I have not received a call since. If they continue to call record the messages. If they continue to call after you send the cease and desist letter each call is a violation of the FDCPA. They have been cited many times for violating the FDCPA. Once you throw sections of the FDCPA back at them they stop in their tracks. They are hoping for the person that does not question anything. Read the FDCPA it will give you an idea of what they can and cant do……but because there have been many lawsuits so there are many things they cannot do that are not in the original text of the FDCPA.

We do have a legitimate debt through our small business that was supposed to have been kept inhouse at (large corporate credit card company)if we paid a certin amount as agreed. An error was made by them so it was sent to NCO for collections within a few days of my making the agreement.

NCO called me on a Sunday morning last week. I did speak with them and was willing to make arrangements to pay the debt, I just couldn’t make the decision without speaking with my Husband. They wanted a credit card payment and even said you have $xxx availiable on such and such card.

After speaking to my husband he didn’t feel right about it. I dodged their repeated calls and I waited until Tuesday when the girl I had been dealing with at the CC company was in the office. She admitted she made the error and assured me the account would be recalled to their offices.

I finally spoke to the bitch at NCO and told her that the account was no longer theirs to collect on. She told me that They (the CC company) can’t do that, then faxed me a letter. I have dodged their calls since.

Yesterday the bitch contacted a past business partner of ours that was on the account while associated with us trying to get payment from him and threatening him. He went ballistic on her, swearing and threatening her with nasty things until a man got on the phone telling him that he can’t talk to a person like that and our friend went off on him with the same tirade until they hung up.

I am still waiting for a call back from my contact at the CC company for definite confirmation that they indeed have the account back inhouse; then the letters will begin.

The# I am recieving calls from is out of Canada 416-932-4500 caller ID Risk Management. Call back # of 888-217-9861.
Address is 3080 Yonge St Ste 4000
Toronto, ON Canada M4N 3N1

Seeing as they are in Canada I don’t know if our laws are applicable to them. The address they are requesting payment to is the Prudential Road address in PA though. And I was also given routing and account numbers- is turn about fair play?

I received pre-recorded message from NCO even after I sent a letter to them. My son went to Emergency Room and we don’t have insurance. So I have been asking the hospital to send me official price list for the purpose of verification of the bill. I have sent even in certified letter but they have been ignored and send the account to NCO. When NCO sent me a first letter and call, I send a letter to them and explained but they still call me. Will this hurt my credit?

The number they left me is 800-788-8770.

I wound up shutting off my cell phone. The odd thing is that I don’t provide my cell phone number to any business and I don’t have anything that went to collections.

My daughter told me today that she’s been receiving calls “for about a year” from 800-477-1827. I called them today, they answered as NCO. I told them I was recording the call (I was not actually), and that their had been numerous calls from them to my minor child’s cell phone. They asked for her number, and then said they were looking for a certain name. I said I’d never heard of that name (true), and was told that my daughter’s number would be removed from their list. I’ll report if she gets any more calls.

NCO has been harrassing me the past couple of weeks. I lost my job and got behind in my bills. when I first talked to them they did not tell me who they were…I thought I was talking to one of my creditors. He made threats and coerced me into giving him my bank account number so I could pay $50, which was all I had. But after I did it I felt uneasy about it so I called the number back and found out it was NCO. They have threatened to take my house away and they even pretended they were the county sheriff calling me to tell me they had a junction against me. They will do anything to scare you into paying. I had to close my bank account after reading about how they continue to take money out. I have thought about recording them when they start yelling at me and making all kinds of threats. I keep looking over my shoulder everywhere I go because I am afraid of them. It’s not that I don’t want to pay my bills..I have always paid my bills. I lost my job and am having a hard time getting back on my feet. I am considering filing a complaint against them with the FTC, my state’s attorney general and the BBB. I am now with a credit counseling agency and I am hoping they can deal with them instead of me.
BTW: the number they call me from is 716-636-1588 – from New York.

First of all, I don’t have any unpaid bills/debt. I recieved a call from NCO today and they asked for me, they knew my name- strange. Then they asked if I knew this one person- when they said the name it was my mother’s ex-husband. He is not my father, so we don’t have the same last name. Wierder is that I just got married so I have a different last name and the phone is in my husbands name. I have not seen (or spoken to) this man in almost 8 years. Does anyone know how they may have tied me to him? Or how can I get rid of them? I called the number back , but got a dead end.

They want to make a deal. They’ve called 4 times since yesterday. I have flawless credit and keep impeccable records. I sent a certified cease and desist and told them to suck it. Something you might find interesting. We just started receiving phone calls from NCO. As they buy old debt, to be honest with you it may or may not be something from our past. We just aren’t sure at this point … so we are looking into it.

After looking them up, I’ve read crazy things about them … so the first thing I did was call them back (after researching them and receiving over 20 calls). My point here, is that I’m using one of those record your call services and you might be interested to know that every time I call them back to see what the account is, they hang up on me because I tell them I’m recording the phone messages. I actually am, but I think just saying that I am would make them hang up as well.

Why would they hang up unless their tactics are illegal. Anyone else would reason that if I’m recording the same conversation that they are recording then there shouldn’t be a problem … that said, they never want to give me any information and they always conveniently hang up or come right out and request (and suggest) that I do not record them.

I keep doing it anyway … although one of these times I’ll probably send out a cease letter before I waist much more time with them. But because they don’t seem to do things legally, I never answer when they call and I call them right back and record the message.

Hope that helps someone out there!

Here are the numbers I get calls from:
215-441-3000
215-436-8620 – this is a scam number that comes up as UNITEDSTATIONER and when you call it it claims it’s a marketing company. As soon as you hang up NCO calls you back from this number. — This alone is against the law. This is the numer that made me start checking them out.

Got the apparently usual call from “Unidentified” telling me to call about a “debt collection” problem: 866-248-6423. I called the # and it was answered as NCO Financial Systems — put on hold for 25 minutes. They had called my cell phone. While I was on hold, I googled, and found this site, and read the comments.

1. I have no outstanding debt anywhere. Own my house, almost paid off the car, have some second mortgage debt, all of which is paid on time, and besides if the bank had some problems, they would have contacted us first. No credit card debts that aren’t paid either in full every month or at least on time. My current employer is a family owned business so they can’t be coming at me for some back not-garnished wages, and before that I was self employed for 20 years. I have an HMO for health care, so aside from paying my copayments, I owe Kaiser nothing. ETC. (Stated to keep people from thinking I’m just someone who doesn’t pay their bills — we keep ourselves debt-free because that’s how we want to live: within our means)

2. I hung up from the on hold hell, and called a phone number found here at your site: 1-800-956-4638. It was listed as a number to reach a particularly rude supervisor. Rather than asking for the supervisor, I told the person who answered that I had received a call and I don’t owe anyone anything and wanted to clear up this “wrong number”. He asked for the number they called. I gave him my cell #, told him it was my cell phone and that I had had the # for years, etc. I heard some clicks on his end, then he said that they had no record of calling that number. He didn’t ask me for the number I was told to call, which I found odd, since so many of the NCO numbers people have posted here are now dead phone numbers. However, he acted like I was harrassing him, interestingly enough, and definitely had hostility to spare which he shared the millisecond the conversation started, even though I was merely trying to return a phone call. He repeated that they had no record of that phone number and would get a supervisor to “check into it.”

3. I don’t expect anyone to check into anything, but now I wonder if they merely wanted to somehow verify people’s cell phone numbers as being real numbers. I don’t know.

4. If they continue, I’ll contact my lawyer, file a complaint with PA AG, and do what I have to but honestly I don’t have the time, $$, or energy to be dealing with something like this right now.

Thank you for the site, and the unending ability of people to post information on it. This thing scares me, frankly, because I know this kind of situation can make victims out of anyone for absolutely no reason. About 30 years ago some collection agency called me out of the blue, screaming at me from the get go, threatening me, and while I was trying to find out what the hell they were on about, I discovered that it was charges that a medical group had erroneously sent to a collection agency rather than writing them off since the charges were not due from the patient but from the contracted insurance company. I pitied the poor clerk at the medical group office who had been fielding calls from way-ex-patients for 3 days. BUT, it took weeks and repeated calls to this collection agency to make them stop calling me at my job and screaming at me. So, I know how this goes, and it doesn’t go well.

Best of luck to everyone ~ and thanks again for the phone numbers.

I would advise everyone dealing with them to have everything in writing. I scheduled a payment plan, and had several payments automatically withdrawn before something bad happened. They started making unscheduled withdrawals from my account, and when I called to verify my payment schedule, they transferred me around to about 15 different lines, including the “education” department, whatever that means. Then I called later in the day, and said “Hi, I’d like to make a payment on my account”, and before I’d even identified myself, the guy on the other line said you are already making payments, I can’t help you. Very shady stuff. Will not make any more attempts to repay my debt to them…cancelled the pending checks with my bank

Here’s a new number for NCO 888-246-4874. The jackasses called me this am regarding my ex of 15.5 years but refused to tell me if it was related to my children or not stated “can’t tell you anything including company name unless you are his wife or him” actually wanted to know if they could leave a message and then hung up on me when I said not unless you tell me what this is regarding. Just trying to protect my children. My ex is not using my phone number as a contact number this I know. He even lives in a different state. I’m remarried with a different last name and my number is unlisted. What the hell are these people up to?

I’ve been getting these calls from N.C.O Financial(877-859-8938,000-000-0000) since last September for a girl named Kimberly who had my number before me. I’ve told them numerous times to quite calling she doesn’t live here they say “Okay your number has been removed from our database”. Then the next morning at 8 o’clock i still get calls from them they call from 8-around 9 at night, even on the weekends its annoying and its harrasment.

I had someone call me last night from NCO. They were trying to tell me that a family member of mine had used me as a reference and owed them money. The problem is that the person they were saying was my family member was not and I don’t even know anyone by that name. Then they claimed they had called my brother-in-law about this person but my brother-in-law had never gotten a phone call and didn’t know anyone by that name either. We ran the bogus name they gave us and found that they had attached this name to our previous addresses. This made me worried so, then we checked our credit reports and everything looks okay so far. I think they were calling because they thought we would give them more personal information about ourselves or money. They had a lot of bogus information they were trying to push off on me. When I told them this they then tried to make out like they were concerned about my information being out there and wanted to help, which was another tactic. I finally told them that I had no idea what they were talking about and if someone had used me as a reference it was never followed up on because I do not know anyone by that name and as a reference I am not liable for anything. BEWARE AND DON’T GIVE THEM ANY INFO!

Lady from NCO Maria Something called me at work the other day. She yelled at me and told me to find the money and pay this bill now. I felt the call was threatning. I know I owe money, but I am afraid to talk to these people. Frankly they seem like they would be willing to show up at your door and hurt you if you didn’t give them their money.

I am still afraid and not sure what to do. Because I don’t have the money to pay them right at this moment. I am going to send them a certified letter and ask them not to contact me at work.

Earl Williams. This guy is one of the shitbags that works for NCO. He has been calling me and my mother-in-law over a debt of my brothers. I had it out with him on the phone tonight, and he made a comment that got me thinking. He basically makes his money by harrassing people and trying to get them to pay up. He told me that he was going to do whatever he needed to do to get his job done, whether it was harrassing me or my mother -in-law(who doesn’t really even know him). He then hung up on me, so I called him back and told him that I was going to call him and harrass him as much as he harrassed me. Now for the idea. I’m only one person and really won’t make any difference, but what if everyone that reads this were to call him and waste his time. It wouldn’t take long for each person, but it sure would fill up his night. I would in turn be willing to call the person that is harrassing you. If we flooded their phone system it wouldn’t reduce our debt, but it would really be fun causeing them the frustration that they cause us. What do you think??
